I Guess We Already Are

And the song is called I Wanna Love You Forever and its by Jessica Simpson and I DON'T own it. Author's Notes: Ok well this is the first fanfic I've ever written. It takes place sometime after angel went to L.A. However Doyle never died and Kate, Riley and Parker never existed.
"Buffy," Joyce was running out of patience now she had been waiting for her daughter to come downstairs for 35 minutes, at this rate they'd be lucky to get seats at the new French restaurant at all. "Almost ready mom, just one more minute" and with that she came walking down the stairs. "Well it's about..." Joyce cut herself off in mid sentence when she saw Buffy. There was her baby girl in a long black skirt the had a slit up her right leg the reach mid thigh and a blood red halter, her hair piled up in curls. "Buffy you look wonderful." "Thanks Mom." "Ready to go?" "Sure thing let me grab my purse." and with that they where out the door. "So mom what's the big deal anyway, why'd you wanna go out to this new fancy restaurant anyway?" Buffy asked her mother. "Well I just thought it'd be a nice to spend a nice evening with my daughter", Joyce replied with a smirk on her face. Buffy was about to ask about that smirk when they pulled up to the restaurant. When they got out, they were escorted by 2 lovely men into the restaurant to a beautiful table in the center of the room. "And you were worried we wouldn't get a decent table," said buffy as she looked around. She noticed a band setting up in a corner, "I didn't know this place had live music," she said. "Huh?" said Joyce who had been looking around the room for someone. "I said I didn't know they had live music," Buffy repeated herself. "Oh well I guess they do," said Joyce. Just then a waiter came up "Can I get you something to drink?" Buffy looked over at her mother and noticed she seemed preoccupied looking for something... "I'll have a Sprite with lime please and she'll have a white wine spritzer," Buffy replied. "Ok be back in a few minutes with your drinks miss," and with that the waiter was gone. "Mom, you seem kinda distracted, everything ok?" Buffy asked. "What, o yes everything's fine, did you notice how exquisite the art work in here is?" Joyce quickly asked her daughter so that she wouldn't ask what Joyce was looking for. "Mmm yea I guess it is," Buffy replied glancing around. Buffy head stopped mid-glance, it couldn't be, could it? Angel was in L.A. right? Buffy wondered silently but before she could get a good look the waiter was in front of her placing their drinks down. "I'll be back in a few minutes to take your orders," the waiter said. When the waiter finally moved she looked back to where she thought she saw him, he was gone. "Great now I'm seeing things," Buffy said out loud. "What honey"? Asked Joyce. "Oh nothing mom, I just thought I saw someone I knew." "Oh, ok sweetie, so what are you gonna order?" Joyce replied silently thanking the waiting for his timing. "Hmmm? Oh yea order forgot about that part," said Buffy as she picked up her menu. As Buffy read her menu Joyce saw Angel across the room, and waved to her. Joyce smiled back at him and turned back to Buffy. "Sweetheart I'm not feeling well all of a sudden," Joyce said. "Oh, ok mom well why don't we just go them and I'll order a pizza at home," replied Buffy. "Oh no no no, you stay and have a nice meal, I'll be fine," Joyce said quickly. Buffy noticed Joyce's quick reply and gave her a strange look but none the less agreed to stay. When the waiter came back he noticed Joyce was missing and asked Buffy if she would like to wait for her dinner partner to come back. "Oh no she won't be returning she wasn't feeling well so she went home," Buffy said. "Oh well in that case miss, would you mind having someone join you, as you see there's a long wait and there is a gentleman here who's also alone," the waiter said. Buffy considered it for a moment. "Sure, doesn't make sense for two people to eat alone." "Very well," replied the waiter. "I shall be back with him in a minute." Buffy returned to looking at her menu while she waited for the waiter to return with her dinner companion. She had just decided what to order when she heard the waiter say, "Here you go sir." Buffy looked up and her heart stopped just as Angel looked down and acted surprised to see. Angel sat down and the waiter asked him if he could get him something to drink. "Yes, I'll have a glass of Merlot please," Angel said. With a nod the waiter turned to get the drink. "I thought I saw you across the room," Buffy said. "Well I guess you thought right," replied Angel. "Is this ok? I mean us having dinner?" Angel asked. "Of course, I mean why wouldn't it be just because you left me and tore my heart into itty bitty pieces doesn't me we can't have dinner right?" she replied icily. "I guess not," he replied and went to leave. "No wait, I'm sorry this is fine really," Buffy replied, she hadn't meant to say that it just came out. Angel sat back down "So how have you been?" he asked. "Ok, been busy with slaying and school, you?" Buffy said. "Fine, Cordelia and Doyle have been a great help," he replied. Just then the waiter came back. "Can I take your order miss?" he asked. "Yes, I'll have the Poulet Au Vin Rouge and a salad please," Buffy said. The waiter turned to look at Angel "I'll have the same," he said. The waiter nodded and left. Just then a thought occurred to Buffy. "Angel why are you eating dinner in a restaurant?" she asked. Angel gave one of those sexy half smiles of his and replied "I was wondering if you were gonna notice that, well you see it seems little wiccan friend of outs has been dabbling in it behind your back again (he added the again b/c he remembered hearing from Cordy about the accident with Spike and Buffy) and well, she kinda took away the bad things about a vampire" he said. Buffy just looked at him before saying, "what do u mean bad things?" "Well basically I still have my game face and strength and I have to drink 3 pints of blood a week but other then that I'm human," he said. Buffy's mouth formed an o but no sound came out. "Buffy you ok?" Angel as concerned when she didn't say anything. "What? Oh, um yea just a little surprised I guess." she said. Angel wasn't sure what to say next, so he said the one thing that always came naturally... "I love you". Buffy looked at him "I love you too, does this mean your gonna put my heart back together?" she asked hopefully. "If you still want me too," he said. "I never stopped wanting you too," she said. Angel smiled, "Then yes, I'm moving back to Sunnydale next week, Doyle and Cordy are moving back too, there's nothing more I can do in L.A," he said. Buffy was so happy, she leaned over and kissed Angel, it was a soft gentle kiss, and it seemed to say everything else that was left unsaid. Buffy has just pulled away when the waiter came with their food. Buffy and Angel ate dinner, and talked catching up with each other. Angel had just started to tell Buffy about their day together when she cut him off. "I remember," she said. Her words caught Angel by surprise and he looked up at her. "You remember?" he said. "Yep, I remember everything...The kiss outside, the table, cookie dough fudge mint chip ice cream, everything" she said. Angel just looked at her not knowing what to say; finally he said "Are you mad?" "I was at first but then I realized I would have done the same thing if I had been you" she said. Angel let out the breath he had been holding. They talked a little more and finished dinner. Angel excused himself to go to the bathroom. While he was gone the waiter came and cleared the table. "Will there be anything else miss?" the waiter asked. "Yes, I'd like a cup of the Mocha strawberry coffee, I heard about, actually make that 2 please" she said. "Ok I'll be right back." Buffy realized the band had started to play, it seemed they were doing songs that belonged to other artists...Interesting, Buffy thought. The waiter returned with the coffee she had asked for a disappeared. Just as Buffy was beginning to wonder what was taking Angel so long he came into view, walking towards her. He sat down; "Sorry got a little lost". Buffy laughed. "I was beginning to think you had left". Angel took Buffy's hand and said "Never, Never Again". Buffy felt a rush of happiness come over her. "I got you some coffee, I know it makes you jittery but it's suppose to be really good," she said. Angel picked up his cup and tasted it. "MMM, it is good." Just then he heard a song start to play and turned to Buffy, "Buffy there's something I wanna ask you, but first I want you to listen to this song," he said. Buffy nodded and turned to the band. She immediately recognized the song and began to hold Angel's hand as she listened. Angel immediately noticed she had tears down her face but she was smiling. "Buffy, I love you more then I have ever loved anyone in my ENTIRE life. I knew I loved you the first moment I saw you and I loved you even more when you knocked me flat on my ass and I continued to love you more and more if that's even possible everyday up until now. And I'll continue to love you forever. I'll still love you in even when neither of is alive, I wanna show you how much I love your forever, and well what I'm trying to ask you is Buffy Anne Summers will you marry me?" If Buffy hadn't been crying before she sure as hell was now, she looked at Angel and said "But Angel aren't we already married?" and with that she held up her hand, the hand the had a ring on it, the ring that she had not taken off since that night on her 17th birthday when he had put it there. Angel was about to ask how she found out when she silenced him with a kiss that held more passion then he thought possible. When they finally pulled away he looked at her and said, "Yea, I guess we are" and kissed her again. The End
