Smooth Sailing

Series: The Ones Of Good & Evil Author: Alicia (aka Lady Angel) Email: [email protected] Rating: PG-13 Summary: A short look at Buffy's thoughts... Spoilers: I don't think so...but then I don't think, come to think of it...
The trip to Europe had been an uneventful one. After they had boarded their ship they all kept an eye on the docks until they were out of sight. They hoped that the former Scooby Gang wouldn't find them. If they knew where Buffy and the group were headed, they would send the Council after them. For once in her unlife, Buffy was afraid. Afraid for her herself and afraid for her family. She looked up into her lover's eyes and saw an expression that mirrored her own. "I'm scared, Angel. The people who we hurt...people that were my friends...want to kill my family. The only reason I would have come out of it alive is because they need me. They'll come after us, you know that don't you?" He looked down into the worried eyes of his beloved. "Don't worry, Baby, they can't kill us if they can't find us. We'll move on to France after we reach England and spend a year or two there, after that, we may move around a bit for a while, but we'll stick to Europe, that's where most of the evil in the world originated and will rise again. "We have a number of transport vehicles available to us.you don't live a couple of hundred years without aquiring a vast amount of money. We also have a number of houses and mansions across Europe so we shouldn't have any trouble finding anything. We'll have to keep a low profile and work under assumed names, but that shouldn't be a problem, both Slayers are in America and the Council won't be out and about, so fighting demons won't endanger our new lives...that is...if that's what you want to do." The look on Buffy's face was nothing if not interesting. It contained a mixture of joy, horror and something that could only be described as devilish. The latter had been a look he had become well aquainted with in the past five years. The pleasure she had taken in killing humans would be the same when killing demons. A revenge for what she had become. "Don't, Buffy. The need to spill the blood of demons will overpower you, you will be as bad as when you were the 'bad guy'. The need for revenge will become so powerful that everything else will be drowned out, no friends, no family...just the kill. I won't let you live like that. I won't let you stray from our goal. This time, our good will overpower any thing that will be thrown at us. The demons of Hell will know our vengeance, and the Slayers will know that they're not alone in this fight any longer. Good will be in the driver's seat once more." Buffy looked up at Angel, thinking about what he was saying, knowing that he was right. She knew that she would make mistakes like this for a while, but her Angel would be there to help her. Their relationship wouldn't be the same as before they became the 'bad guys', they would be closer. They had been through so much together, they had more than one lifetime to sort through any and all grievances.in fact, they had several lifetimes. One good thing can be said about immortality. Buffy thought. "And what's that, beloved?" Angel heard her thoughts. "You don't have to worry about not having enough time to do everything." Angel smiled as turned around, heading back to their bed. Maybe everything would work out eventually. THE END
