So that means that she can change my werewolf status and more. She controls everything, therefore she controls me. "Huh." This from Oz. "Promise fulfilled, my play time. You bore me, talk amongst yourselves." With that, she quickly went into vamp-mode and sunk her teeth into Angel and ran out of the room, followed swiftly by a sweet revenge-driven Angel. Their antics fired Spike's blood. He turned to the group of vampires. "Look after this lot." He turned to Dru, "Come with me, pet." He growled as he swept her into his arms and carried her off. The absence of the four lead vampires gave Willow an idea. The two children quickly became bored with nothing to do and decided to go out hunting for the fun of it, since they had already eaten. Two of the vamps followed, knowing that if anything should happen to the twins, their deaths would be slow and painful.. Willow had spotted the left over stakes from when Buffy had been the Slayer. The rest of the gang understood what was happening when the stakes floated into the air and headed in the direction of the remaining vampires. Eventually, they were all dusted. In the past few years, Willow had been doing more than just practicing magick. She was able to remove her chains with her mind and suddenly remembered that all the ingredients for the restoration ritual was in her backpack. With the help ofthe others, she was quickly able to get things set up *~*~*~* Meanwhile, Buffy and Angelus were engaged in a ritual of their own. They were too busy with each other to notice anything amiss in the air. Locked in a passionate embrace, nipping at each other's necks, enjoying their sexual revenge, each remembering when they had discovered the ecstasy of drinking the other's blood THREE YEARS EARLIER She was pouting again. It infuriated him that she could so easily get her own way by doing little things that were full of promises for later. But this time she wouldn't get her way, it was too important for her not to be discovered if their destinies were to be fulfilled. She walked up to him in a way that just screamed 'I'm a bad girl, but I'll be very, very good if', then she clutched at his shirt to pull him closer, then she began kissing his throat and spoke, "Please, my Angel? I promise to be good and careful while I'm out and I promise to be even better when I get back" she had a very wicked gleam in her eyes. Well, maybeNOshe won't do this to me again! It's time to say N-O. "No. You won't be going hunting tonight. It may jeopardize all we've worked for. The slayer and all your former friends are out tonight, they can't know you are one of us!" "I need to do something! There's nothing to stalk around here and I want to play!!" "I said no, Buffy! Go check on the children or something and I'll bring something back for you, maybe a nice plump child." He stroked her hair and back in an effort to calm her down, he needed her stubborn side to take a back seat. She growled into the neck that she had been kissing lightly. She hated small children, they couldn't run very far or fast and their blood just wasn't as sweet as that of a young man who was very attracted to her. She had been getting angrier by the minute, Angelus knew better than to try and treat her like one of his lackeys. She finally had enough and violently sunk her fangs into his throat and began to drinkshe thought it might be painful for himand it was. Angelus growled at the unexpected attackand did the same thing. If she thinks I'm just going to allow thisshe's wrong. Time for my revenge. The longer she drank, the longer he drank. Their blood mingled, in and out of her, and in and out of him, until they realized that it wasn't painful in a bad way. The longer they stayed like that, the more aware they became of each otherthe more aroused. It heightened their senses so that they felt what the other felt. Slowly their anger died and was replaced by a feeling of lust that surpassed anything they had experienced in both of their lives. Angelus dragged her to the nearest piece of furniture, which happened to be a table, and dumped her on it, covering her with his large frame. She welcomed the weight and quickly unbuttoned his slacks as he lifted up her skirt, their intent clear to the group of vampires who walked into the main room for their next task. Despite the lingering vampires, the couple on the table continued, not caring who was watching
Thinking about that time three years ago made them want each other again, but she was getting hungry, so she licked the two wounds on her lover's neck as he did the same and then got up, got dressed, and with one last look at his enticingly naked body, went to go hunting, via the back exit. Maybe she'd bring him back a treat for that thoroughly satisfying midnight tryst He watched her leave, thoroughly worn out from their little romp. He never thought that his perfect life of darkness could get any better, but thinking of her and any surface that could hold the two of them brought a satisfied grin to his face that to a human, would look frightening. Suddenly his features twisted in agony as he felt something changing. Seconds later he was looking around and wondering where he was and how he'd gotten therethen he remembered and groaned in pain. Oh, dear God! What have I done? I'm so sorry Buffy!! He silently hoped that everyone could forgive him his mistakes. He rushed out to the main room where the Scooby Gang was cleaning up after the spell. There were no other vampires in sight, but there were numerous piles of ashes. The gang looked up cautiously at him. "UmIahI'm sorry, for everything." He managed to spit out. Willow spoke for everyone. "We only did it because only you can defeat Buffy and the children." She stated matter-of-factly. This was the one who killed her best friend and to her, that was unforgivable. Angel looked stricken and went pale, even for a vampire, "I can't! I won't!" he was shaking his head. "I can't kill Buffy or our children. They may be demons, but they're my family!" Tears escaped his tortured eyes. He looked at the unforgiving eyes of the group and his gaze fell on a sympathetic pair. Jenny couldn't stand his pain. He may have terrorized them for years, but it was partly her fault for not warning him when she could five years ago. She spoke to him gently, "You won't have to, Angel. You have to give them back their souls. First Buffy and then the children." He thought about it for a minute, then said, "We'll have to hurry. Buffy will be back soon. Umm, why me? Why couldn't you have cursed Buffy, she has the power to give our souls back." "You have part of her power left over from the Transfer earlier, plus, Buffy is too strong for a straight forward curse. It needs the extra power. You have to perform the ritual." "Then we'd better lock ourselves in the cage in case one of them comes back. Buffy designed it for the purpose of punishing any of our followers if they disobeyed any of us. If we take the key in with us, no one will be able to get in." He was worried about his children returning. He didn't want to have to hurt them. They locked themselves in the cage just as Buffy returned. "I knew it!!!" she raged. "I felt you apologizing to me! How could you do this to me! Now I'm going to have to kill you!" Angel quickly started the spell as Buffy called for her minions. She started to cast a barrier around herself when she figured out what he was doing, but was too late. As she began to recite the spell, Angel finished the curse and she fell to the ground, fighting an internal battle with the curse and her Slayer self. It took longer for the curse to take effect on her than it did for Angel, she was very strong, but six minutes later she had collapsed on the floor, drained and unable to move. Angel probed her mind, then turned to the others while retrieving the key and letting them all out. "She'll be fine in a few minutes, but she's Buffy. She's remembering and is crying inside. She doesn't want to fall apart on the outside." He spoke gently and moved toward her. He picked her up and sat on one of the lounge chairs with her on his lap while stroking her back. She curled up into a ball and was held by him as she shook silently. It was a few minutes later that Angela and Billy returned with a couple of vampires at their backs. Angel alerted Buffy to their presence and before they knew what was happening, the last two Orbs of Thesula were floating into Buffy's hands. She quickly said a few words and the orbs glowed as their children fell to their knees. Angel knew there was something different about the way Buffy restored the twin's souls when she recited a different spell than the one that had been placed on them:I call forth the souls of the twin children before me. Without hesitation, without remorse, without boundaries, Restore their souls to them. Now! It wasn't even a spell really. She had just stated what she wanted and she got it. Although the power she wielded made the difference possible. The absence of Gypsy magic had to be replaced; therefore it was taken from Buffy. The power she held was more than enough, resulting in her being only a little tired. Billy and Angela were getting to their feet and were looking around at everyone wondering what was going on. "Buffy, what did you do?" Angel wasn't too sure if the change of spell was a good thing, but he would reserve judgment. She was still tightly curled up in his lap. "I just changed things around so that they had their souls permanentlyand I made it so that they wouldn't remember anything that has happened, but they will recognize people they know." Buffy suddenly felt a change in the air. "We have to get out of here. Spike and Dru are about to wake up and the other vampires are returning from their hunting. The sun will be up in an hour." They all started packing up their things while Angel took the children and headed to the house Buffy lived in when she was alive. The others soon followed. They were almost there when Buffy stiffened and warned them. "They've discovered what happened. Dru had a vision." As they reached the house, Buffy turned to her lover. "We have to help them, Angel. Too much has happened. We're family now." She pleaded. "Buffy, Dru is insane, there's no telling what she might do with a soul. She may kill herself or someone else while trying to hold back the demon." He tried to make her understand even though he felt the same. "I can help her, Angel. I can't make her totally sane, but I can make her lucid. She'll be able to control herself and she will be able to contribute to conversations instead of being in her own little world. The only reason I didn't do it before was because she was fun to be around, we had fun devising new ways to hunt, to make our meals the more sweet." She frowned in distaste as she recalled just what some of those things were. Angel though about it for a moment, then turned to the others who were staring at them in disbelief. "We'll need another three orbs. For Spike, Dru and Joyce. And please don't argue. We may have been soulless, but we would have killed anyone who hurt any of the others in our home. We were all we had. Me and Buffy, Spike and Dru, Billy and Angela. We don't want the others to hurt the twins or any of you so they'll join us. After that you won't have to see us again. We'll be leaving for Europe in a week or so." With that, he and Buffy took the children upstairs to bed after putting up heavy curtains to keep out the sun. Then they went to bed. The others went to the library to discuss the night's events *~*~*~* BACK AT THE LIBRARY They were all quiet on the way to the library. They all sat at the table in stunned silence, not knowing quite what to say. Xander was the first to come out of it. "I say we just kill them. What's the point in giving the bloodsuckers their souls? They're demons. The only reason that we did it for Buffy and Angel was because we need them. Plus they would have destroyed the world eventually." He was getting defensive. Hank reacted badly to that statement. "We can't! Joyce is there. She's only been there for a few hours, not much time to do anything. She's still my wife. Besides that, whether I like it or not, Buffy and Angel are my family, which makes their family also my family, It's not exactly logical, I know, but it's what I think." "Hank, while I agree on the Buffy and Angel matter, it still remains that they are all demons. The children may have their souls permanently; their parents still have the clause attached to the curse, meaning that they could lose their souls at any time. Much as I am loath to admit it, Xander may be correct. When this is all over, I suggest we review the situation and decide whether or not to end their existence." Giles muttered . "Hold on a second! Why? You'd just kill them because they might revert to their old ways? You knew Angel was a vampire with a soul five and a half years ago and you welcomed him with open arms, and now you want to kill them because of what might happen? You knew what Angel did when you welcomed him. It looks to me that you only want them dead because it's personal. Nothing they've done here was worse than what they did one hundred years ago!" Their reasoning was driving Jenny crazy. How could they want to kill them if they had a soul? Willow was the next to rise to their defense. "Jenny has a point. The one thing I couldn't forgive was that Angelus made my best friend into a vampire. But it wasn't Angel. Angel is with us now. We should give them a chance, what happened wasn't their fault, none of it. They didn't know what would happen that night over five years ago. None of us knew that his finding happiness would break the curse." "Except me." They all looked at Jenny. "Okay, you all know that I was sent here to watch Angel, but I didn't know until the last minute what would happen. This is my way of making up for anything that I could have changed back then. Plus, I thought about it for a minute, and I think Buffy could do something about the curse clause. She wouldn't be able to do her own, but anyone she transferred power to, could." Giles was starting to worry about his wife. "None of it is your fault, Jenny. You weren't to know that Buffy and Angel would do anything rash. If Buffy had just done as she was told, this would have been resolved years ago and we wouldn't be in this mess." The events of the last day or so made him extremely bitter toward his former charge. It was starting to get late in the day, but they still had to resolve the matter of what they were going to do and Tanya had yet to have her say *~*~*~* BACK AT THE MANSION For the past five hours, Spike had been raging at the loss of the rest of his family. He had thrown furniture until nothing was left intact. In the corner of the room, Dru was crying at the loss of her happy home. The little children, her Angel and her favourite sister. She thought of the times they went hunting together and then of how she would get revenge on the mean people for taking away her family. Joyce was standing around; wondering what she would do next. *~*~*~* BACK AT THE HOUSE Buffy was curled up with Angel on her parents' bed. She looked over at her lover and wondered if this was how he had felt when he was changed the first time. She kissed his bare chest to comfort him. She could hear his thoughts. She knew that he felt ten times worse. He was the one that changed her, but it was her fault that he changed in the first place. If only she hadn't insisted on them making love that night, none of this would have happened "Don't, Buffy. It wasn't your fault. I wanted us to be together more than anything. Neither of us knew what would happen. One good thing came out of it though; we have two beautiful children. Plus, we'll be together forever. We can atone for what we've done by destroying the vampire population. With your power and with Spike and Dru's help, we can make a serious dent in the demon world. We'll succeed where everyone else has failedwe have reason to see it through, and we have the ability to keep going indefinitely." He held her gently and ran his hands through her hair in a comforting motion. "Your right, Angel. We can and will succeed. There will be seven of us and we can all increase our power. I can make it so that all of you have at least a portion of the power I have. The more we travel, the more power we can pick up. This will help us." They had had enough of the serious thoughts and began kissing. They knew they couldn't go very far until the curse was changed. Soon after, they decided to get some rest. They'd need all of their strength for the coming night. *~*~*~* THAT NIGHT Buffy got up to answer the door. The eight people standing there looked rather sad. She would worry about that later. She dragged them in as Angel came downstairs. "Are we ready?" he asked. "We brought everything that you'd need. You two will have to take it from here." It was Willow that answered. The group moved into the cleared area that was the living room. Buffy set everything up so that she could adjust their own curses first. She lit a few candles and while Angel set off the incense, she chanted. Half an hour later, she was able to regain enough strength to use the Transfer on her lover once again so that he could do the same for her. Once this was completed, they set things up to restore the other three vampires souls permanently. Buffy needed four hours to build the strength to do the three rituals in the space of a few minutes. Later that night, after a large meal and the rest that Angel insisted that she have, she was ready. She went back downstairs where everyone, including her children, was gathered. Just over an hour later, Angel carried Buffy up to the main bedroom where he laid her on the bed and crawled in beside her. She had collapsed as soon as she had completed the last spell. The gang, except for Hank, had all gone out to retrieve Spike and the two femalesthey couldn't be called women. The children had gone with them. They had been told what was going on, but they didn't remember their parts in it. They just knew that they had to help their family and if mommy and daddy couldn't, then they would. *~*~*~* BACK AT THE MANSION Billy and Angela watched as their parent's friends dragged Aunt Dru, Uncle Spike and Grandma Joyce out to the van. They didn't trust the group. They had hit their family until they were unconscious. They were also mean to their parents. Angela thought that they were acting very suspiciously. She remembered something that her mother once told her. "Beings with power like ours can do anything, Angela, we can manipulate things on the physical planebut we can also manipulate the mind." Angela was determined to find out was going on, Well, if mommy says I can do it, then I can do it. She concentrated on reaching out to the person with the least barriers guarding the mind. She easily gained access to the mind of the man her mommy called Xander. He was so full of some strange form of pleasure at the thought of death that his thoughts were just waiting to be read. Finally that dead son of a bitch will be dust for the Hooveralong with his friends here. Buffy can't stop us any longer; no one will listen to a vampire. She's not our friend anymore, she's a demon who I'll kill myself even if Giles thinks that she needs to stick around to fulfil the prophecy. Even if Buffy does stick around, those children of Deadboy's are gone. Angela saw images of what of what this Xander person wanted to do to her family and automatically transferred these to her brother. Together they decided to make a dash for it as soon as their unconscious family was safely in the van. They quickly linked to their parents so they could direct the van toward the house and were soon leaving a very stunned crowd eating their dust when their parents took control over the car from where they werestill in the bedroom in the house that belonged to her mother. *~*~*~* OUTSIDE THE MANSION The group looked at one another. Oz was the first to speak. "They took my van." "Why would anyone want to take your vanit's like a gazillion years old and is soooo last decade." As always, Cordelia was tactless, but, unfortunately correct. "They knew what we were going to do to Spike and the others." Everyone looked questioningly at Willow. "I felt the girl trying to probe my thoughts. When she was unsuccessful, she moved on." She turned to Xander. "She was looking at you when a horrified expression appeared on her face. What were you thinking, Xander?" A determined look appeared on his face. "Just that soon we would kill them all. Deadboy's been so much trouble to us the last five years and he made Buffy the demon that she issoon every evil that he created would be destroyed." Xander was very calm during his reply. They all looked at him with barely concealed disgust and disappointment. They quickly headed to where Buffy and Angel were *~*~*~* AT THE HOUSE Angel quickly packed up what little possessions he and his family had at the house while Buffy concentrated on directing the van to where they were. He had already bought them all a place on the next ship headed to Europe that would leave in an hour. As soon as the kids returned with the other three, they would make a short stop at the mansion for supplies and clothes, before making their way to the docks a couple of towns awaythe docks just outside of Sunnydale would be the first place they would look. Angel had just finished packing when he heard the van pull up with a screech. He rushed downstairs with their suitcase and grabbed Buffy. She looked up at him as he spoke. "I'm sorry about the way this turned out, Buffy." Her eyes were full of sorrow and determination. "It's not your fault, Angel. It's over, what happened, happened, but we have to move on. It's a pity that my so-called friends can't see that. We have forever to come to terms with what we did and to make amends. But if we don't get out of here, you and the others will probably be dead in the morningbut what they still haven't realized after all these years, is that I would rather be dead than live without you." She grabbed his hand and dragged him out to the van to help with the unconscious vampires. They put them and the suitcase into an expensive looking car that was parked around the corner. The car Angel had bought a few years back would aid in their escape. They hadn't gotten around to telling the others that they had a car. Thankfully. They couldn't be followed if the others didn't know what they were looking for. With Angel behind the wheel, they sped out of town to where their ship was docked. He had organized a couple of rooms for them with the fridges packed with blood. There was more than enough there to last them until the ship made its first stop. By the time they reached the ship, the others were awake. They all boarded the ship, but Buffy took one last look at the land that had been her home for many years. She felt Angel's arms around her waist. "Don't worry, Buffy, we'll be back. We won't let them ruin our existence with their prejudice. In a few years when they can handle it without trying to kill us, we'll be back." Buffy turned into his embrace and hugged him tightly. "I hope so, Angel. I don't want them hating us forever" THE END
