Good Morning:
It is hard to believe that May is already here. For some reason, time is just flying by this year.
Here is another prayer request for expanded mission work. Dr. Chris Jenkins, and a team of Christian medical doctors, left on Tuesday for Afghanistan to begin developing a teaching relationship with local medical professionals.
In addition to teaching medicine, they also will be teaching about the greatest physician, Jesus Christ.
Chris sent a e-mail from Germany on Wednesday indicating that they were well on their way. Their next stop was Istanbul, and then on to Kabul. Here are a few earlier comments from him regarding the trip.
"Drs. Claire Ingham, Tim Fader and I will be flying to Kabul, Afghanistan via Frankfurt and Istanbul to scout out the situation there for future medical ministry for In His Image and FPEI (Family Practice Education
International). We will be joining Dr. Richard Hart, Chancellor of Loma Linda Medical School. Loma Linda has a long history of medical work in Afghanistan and Dr. Hart is a key contact for us in beginning a work of our
own. Loma Linda is interested in helping develop the medical school while our interest continues to lie in graduate training in family practice. This would make a very strategic collaboration. Please pray for the "usual" but vital things: God's blessings and guidance, wisdom, safety, and unity among the team. Thanks very much. We will give a report when we get back."
This is a wonderful ministry and if any medical doctors among our readers are interested, Chris always is looking for participants in his medical teaching mission trips.
Speaking of medical doctors, Dr. Angelica Garcia, who lives and practices medicine in Dracena, Brazil, is the author of our devotion this morning. Her devotional, "The New Old News" should give hope to everyone who seeks the freedom to be found in Jesus.
Have a great weekend.
God bless you all...

The New Old News
The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rocks and make your home on the heights, you who say to yourself, 'Who can bring me down to the ground?' Though you soar like the eagle and make your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down," declares the
LORD.
There is nothing more exciting than to see the living word of God happening in front of us, and being shown to the world by the modern media. Have you considered how privileged we 21st Century people have been? During our lifetime we have seen men going to the moon. We can fly across oceans at almost the speed of sound and yet can call anyone in the world while flying in the
airpl
Obadiah 3-4 (NIV)
ane. We experienced the birth of TV, and then color TV, computers, the Internet, digital photography and much, much more.
Many Christians of the past "died in the hope" of seeing many of things we see today. They had no TV set or Internet to follow Jesus' teachings, but some had the privilege of seeing him personally. Others saw "his day" and believed. We received His word and also believed like them.
We were delivered and Jesus made us truly free. Once before we also made our “homes on the heights”, up so high we thought we belonged to ourselves, and could do anything we wanted to, having no idea of our slavery. Fortunately,
He brought us down, and humbled us before Him. He is our majesty. We need no statues to adore, because He opened our eyes and mind to seek Him, a spiritual living God. We left idolatry behind due to His mercy and pleasure.
Our very recent history showed us how practical the word of God really is.
We have just testified to another false idol coming down from its height, because the Lord said, “Though you soar like the eagle and make your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down,"
Many people died or lived enslaved by the orders of Hitler, Stalin, or Saddam Hussein. However, those who believed and had hope in the freedom of Jesus knew that the wicked shall not prevail forever. They would have
welcomed the freedom that came when the power of these men fell. That was good news; just like the freedom in Christ is the ultimate “Good News” for
everyone.
Dear Lord, Thank you for the living word you gave to us for our freedom in Your son, Jesus Christ. May you allow this same word to be accepted by the Islamic world, as well as all mankind, so they too can find real freedom in Christ.
We ask for your glory in His name,
Amen.
