Marijuana is an illegal drug. It's illegal to use, buy, sell, or possess, no matter your age. However, in nine states in the US, it is legal to use marijuana for medicinal purposes. I think this is wrong.
Marijuana is known to numb the body from pain. This is why some doctors prescribe it for such diseases as AIDS, mustiple sclerosis, and some others. However, there are so many side effects to marijuana such as memory loss, slowed reaction time, many respiratory and cardiac problems, etc. It's hardly worth the money, which brings up another point.
Marijuana isn't the only drug that will relieve pain. There are other medicines out there for the same diseases for less money. Basically, it's an excuse to smoke pot. Furthermore, when a patient is prescribed marijuana, they grow it themselves. There aren't sufficient enforcements to keep this person from distributing and/or abusing the substance. Therefore, I find it immoral to use marijuana as a medicine, despite its medical properties.
