My dad was on the school board for the elementary school district from when I was in pre-school through after my entrance into high school. He was, in fact, president of the school board for my entire middle school experience. I knew it was coming- he had warned me that he was going to embarrass me at my 8th grade graduation. I had no idea what he was going to do, and I had no idea how I was going to take it. However, I had known for 4 years it was coming, and oh it came. Members of the school board hand out the diplomas and stuff like that, and so my dad had it arranged that he give me mine. (Very cute.) We had quite a large class too, so they needed a few people to do it. I was the first person my dad handed a diploma to. (Keep in mind: my dad is wackier than I am. I get it from him.) They called my name, and there was my dad, with a clown mask on, and instead of the usual hand-out-take-diploma handshake-style thing, he had his arms out for a big hug. On the tape, I look embarrassed, when in fact, I was embarrassed for him. There was a lot of laughter from the audience. So I got my hug and the diploma... and the mask. Yes, he gave me the mask- a cheap little foam one with the rubber string around the back from Affordable Treasures. It was priceless. I think that's one of the best 8th grade graduations ever. :P
