"Below are a few photo's of a 26X9 foot Semi trailer
I bought for 75.00 at an auction 1 mile north of
me."
It has a wood floor and had plywood sides
I removed the wood sides so I can lower the top to 6.5 feet and shorten it to 20 feet then I will put the plywood back.
The other photos are the back axle after it was removed
The thing I have learned about working on the semi box is, You must be very careful when working on semi trailers as they are very well put together and they are very tall and the parts are very heavy.
It is best if you have the proper equiptment and the facility to work on it as it is a very good way to become injured.
(We worked on it outside and used the tractor to move the parts)
I am planning to use the trailer as a car hauler to pull behind my pickup when I get it finished
I will be adding more photos if this project doesn't kill me

The 1st photo is my dad by the tractor which we used to get it home
Note the homemade dolly we borrowed under the front end.
The 3rd and 4th photo is the left front corner that was damaged by rust and a semi driver backing into it.It is now rebuilt.

The other photos are the back axle after it was removed
and Lowering the roof to 6.5 feet.

The next photo is the frame that goes around the back opening I am considering making a new one as it is probably 200lbs and I dont beleive I will be needing the strength
The other photos are the lowering of the top.
I started the lowering process at around 7pm and it took until 1130 pm to drop it using jacks and the tractors loader.

I finally got the axles under the trailer
It was such nice weather here
(About 28 degf and sunny) I decided to put my customers off for about 1.5 days and put the above axles under it. I am finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel now. I still need to add some form of drop down rear door and fenders.
UPDATE MAY 6 and MAY 30 2006. Finally got the doors on the back and loaded a truck (mine) for the 1st time. Worked too!

UPDATE June 16
Painted the trailer with Fleet Farm aluminum primer. Put license on it as a homemade trailer for $98.00 Still need to finnish adding breaks
