Yorkshire Vets Cross Country Championship

Saturday 14 February 2009 at The Knavesmire, York

The Vets Cross Country championship took place on a wet and windy day over a muddy course at The Knavesmire. There were good performances from our lady runners with Lesley Leggett finishing 2nd in the FV50 category, completing the 5k course in 23.27. Jean Lochead also finished in an excellent 2nd position in the FV60 category in a time of 27.57.

The men couldn’t quite match the ladies success, with Mark Leggett finishing 25th in the MV45 category, completing the 10k course in 40.04. Mick Collinson was 43rd in the MV50 category in a time of 44.02 and Stuart Walton ran well to finish 19th in the MV60 race in 54.40. Guy Goodair came in 7th in the MV70 category in a time of 31.15 over a 5k course.

West Yorkshire Cross Country League 2008

Some creditable performances by The Travellers this year in the WYXCL. In the overall classification for the series of 4 races, best performance came from Lesley Leggett, who finished 3rd in the Ladies 50-54 category, just behind Veronique Marot of Leeds City. Well done Lesley!

Richard Howard finished 15th in the Men’s 40-44 competition, with Richard Bradley in 18th place. Mark Leggett was 16th in the Men’s 45-49 category, with Mick Collinson 12th in the Men’s 50-54 group.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough finishers to figure in the team competitions this year but, well done all those who took part. DDT results (courtesy of West Yorkshire Cross Country League and Complete Runner) are listed below.     

West Yorkshire Cross Country League 2009

The Travellers have entered strong teams in the WYXCL, which start on Sunday 11 October in Halifax (teams listed below). Further details of start times and venue will be available soon.

The competition is over a series of 4 races. Remaining races will be on the weekends of 31 Oct/1Nov, 21/22 November and 5/6 December. The ladies race is normally about 6k and the men's 10k, with 4 to count in the ladies team event and 6 in the men's team.
