Prom 2000

April 15, 2000--A Night at the Orient, and a night for Sarah and I to remember.  It was a hectic weekend for me, a whirlwind trip home, but I'd do it every weekend if I could.  What follows are some highlights of prom and the slow journey back to Lawrence the next day.  I have finally completed the arduous task of getting all these pictures scanned and posted.  Call it a labor of love I guess.

Sarah's mom is to thank for the very creative poses in all of these.  Hopefully you can see them well enough to admire Sarah's beautiful black/midnight blue dress with a flowing train I was stepping on all night.  These two and the head shot were taken at Sarah's house, the one with the chair at mine. 

Sarah says she likes the "attitude" in the back-to-back picture above.  If you say so, dear.  The picture at the left is a scene from prom.  The bridge is over a real pond with a fountain and other landscaping.  The dragon in the background highlights the Oriental theme.  Staring at us in awe (well, maybe at us) on the left is our guitar god friend Nick.

At right is our picture taken by professional photographers.  The DJ at prom had video screens, and whenever he cruised the crowd with his camera and stopped on someone, that person got a free picture taken with his digital camera.  Well, the first person he stopped on was Sarah.  Aren't we lucky.  The closeup below the digital picture is probably my personal favorite.
