A little bit about me

I started what became this site in around 1995 or 1996, by adding up the results of the 1992 general election (since lost, sorry). I did this basically because an election was looming and I wanted to show my friends the sort of strange people that stood for election. My source was the 1996 Whitaker's Almanack.

Around this time I also expanded these results and various by-election results I had collected into an AmigaGuide file. For those of you who don't know what an AmigaGuide file is, it is a single file with a series of pages (nodes) and links between these pages. This quickly ballooned until in 1999 it could expand no further due to the capacity of the floppy disc.

In the summer and autumn of 1999 I compiled the table which can now be seen in the 1997 General Election file, and put the whole thing on the Internet in December 1999 at http://members.tripod.co.uk/a_teale. This link no longer exists as Tripod deleted the site in January 2002, with no reason given.

I am currently studying for a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics at Warwick University. In my first year I was an active member of the Students' Union Elections Group. After a few weeks I was elected to the position of Secretary, and I have now been elected as Chair of the Group.

I have appeared in several other web pages apart from this one:
(1)A project which I was put on by my sixth-form college known as "Technology Challenge 2000". Here you see me near the right in a press photo after we were adjudged the winning team.
(2)A set of election results I submitted to another site.
(3)A letter I wrote to the BBC on the subject of AS-levels.
(4)A rather scary photo of me at the Warwick Wind Orchestra bowling social, May 2002. It certainly wasn't a strike that time...
(5)This page is about the first day that the Manchester Metrolink trams started to run on the Salford Quays/Eccles line, 6 December 1999. If you're wondering what I have to do with this, I'm the lad sitting in the front seat on the second photo (under the word "Broadway", well I can dream...)

The only other Andrew Teale I have heard of on the web is a former director of Dixon Motors plc, a company based in Doncaster which does things with cars and motorbikes.

To close this page (because I feel myself rambling) a few links to the sites of people I know or to places I know:
Graham Cormode
Tabraze Malik
Kathryn Sanders (link not working yet)

Keith, if you're reading this get yourself a website I can link to.
