:
Hello.  This is me and Chie.  Don't we look nice.

We've been together for something like two years now, having met in a friend-of-a-friend, "ooh I really fancy you" kind of way in Yonezawa, north Japan, when I was living there and teaching at junior high schools.  Chie and I are officially, in Japanese terminology, a "love-love couple".

I have a degree in maths for some reason.  Possibly to go to Durham, France and Japan, meet Chie and then come back wondering exactly how to use it.  But that's been good enough for me so far.

I don't have a car and never intend to.  This, therefore, saves me hundreds of pounds every year on my car insurance.  Having survived two deep, snowy winters in a heavily car-dependent city in Japan I hope I can survive a little longer.

I'm 26, omnivore (except for celery and cod testicles), agnostic (any viewpoints welcome), Capricorn, 177cm tall and don't do enough exercise.

And we live in the village of Heptonstall, where Sylvia Plath is buried and we have the oldest Methodist church in continuous use in the world.  Heptonstall is part of Hebden Bridge (or is that the other way round?) which is full of ageing hippies, southerners like us and lots of people wearing crazy hats

Hebden Bridge is near Halifax, home to... Halifax and the slightly annoying Howard.

Feeling particularly big-faced one day.

Some good beers:  Kronenbourg Blanc, Newcastle Brown, Samuel Smith's Wheat Beer (see photo).  Or red wine instead.
Some good books: 1984 by George Orwell, The Solitaire Mystery by Jostein Gaarder, The Stars' Tennis Balls by Stephen Fry, and all the Harry Potters so far... there are reasons for the hype if you haven't read them yet.
Some good Ainsley Harriott Meals in Minutes:  Medley of Mushroom Risotto, Joy Soy Lamb and Ginger Rice, Jimmy's Chicken Kiev.

No, Chie doesn't escape the treatment either.

Chie is, according to her own words, "drop-dead gorgeous".  Or, according to some random bloke in Cardiff, "fit as f***".  She likes, among other things, Ainsley Harriott, especially the pictures of him on most pages of his book.

She is adapting well to the British way of life, i.e. tea with milk, watching the Sound of Music or the X-Factor and Sunday morning fry-ups with HP Sauce.  However, she still misses Japan and cooks up the occasional curry-udon, noodly chicken or buta-kimchi-don.

The one person she would be permitted to have a fling with is Alex Zane.  Mine is, of course, Utada Hikaru.  Though I perhaps ought to check the smallprint of those rules.

Rotate-a-face!

There's not a lot else I can think of right now, but if there is, I'll put it here.  This is because I'm still in the process of getting my life together and finding that elusive thing, a career.  And of course, when I should be doing that, other things like ironing, fixing my bike and tidying my bank statements suddenly become very interesting.  This is perhaps why it's taken around 8 months so far...

Before I finish, this is what colour letters are (and always have been) to me:
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
Thus, my girlfriend is Chie.  And my name is Andrew.  How confusing is this?  blue
Any other synaesthetes?  Apparently this has links to LSD and clinical depression.  Great!

On that bombshell,
Go back. Now ...if you want to.
