Dr. David Bowie (he got an honourary doctorate in May 1999) is the greatest artist of all time. He is extraordinarily versatile, and has worked in many art forms including acting, painting, sculpting and writing. However, his best art form is music, and that is the primary focus of this site.
David Bowie is a man of changes. He feels a need to keep reinventing himself. He moves from one style of music to another, and every album (he seems to release an album in each odd-numbered year) is drastically different from the previous album. Astonishingly, everything he does is brilliant despite all the changes. He is the single most influential musician of the twentieth century, although no one who tries to copy him ever surpasses him.
Inevitably, David Bowie's constant need to move on can leave fans frustrated, whether they're Ziggy Stardust veterans, aficionados of the greatest hits which he performed for the last time ever on his 1990 Sound+Vision tour, Tin Machine fans, or Outside obsessives (I am one of the last named). This leaves many paths untrodden, but unfortunately no one else would have the talent to continue them though they spent an entire career on the project!
