The Interview I was not Interested

When I was attending the School of Military Medicine (SMM), I was informed that I was selected for an interview to study Law, despite the fact that it was my 4th choice! I was hesistant to go for it but since I would rather not stay in a military camp, I decided to treat this interview as a practice for future interviews if there is any.

Soon I was sitting outside the interview room and around me were lawyers-wannabes. They were desperately combing their hair, straightening their ties and using their lipsticks (for the girls only). All wanted to look presentable. One guy sitting next to me casually asked me what choice I put "Law" as. 4th choice!!! Everyone there had "Law" as their 1st choice and they were so desperate to get into this faculty. They were puzzled why a guy like me who obviously disregarded the faculty be given any chance to vie with them for the limited places!

When I entered the interview room, the interviewers were puzzled too over this scenario. Nevertheless, they posed me this question. "You bought a can of Coca Cola from a vendor. You opened it and poured it into a cup and started drinking it through a straw. When you completed drinking, you saw a dead cockroach at the bottom of the cup. Who do you sue? Coca Cola company or the vendor?" asked the older female lawyer.

As a science student, I gave the most logical answer. "Well, I will always look into my cup before I pour anything in it. If the cup is empty at first, I will sue the Coca Cola company. However, if the cockroach is already in the cup, I will sue the vendor," I replied. They were not pleased that I got away without giving a definite answer. The older female lawyer added:" Unfortunately, you weren't noticing it at that time." There was a moment of silence. "Then I wouldn't sue anyone," I said. She glared at me and said:" But you have to!" I rebutted her, saying, "Well, how can you insist on suing someone when you are not sure if they are guilty of an offence? As a lawyer, you should be a mediator and a peace-lover, not a war-monger!" Apparently she was dumbfounded.

The younger and more beautiful lawyer gave me the thumbs-up. Well, it is always good to go for an interview without the pressure! lol. After the Law assessment test on the Saturday afternoon, I took a bus home and could still hear people pointing at me and whispering: "Hey, that is the guy who put Law as a 4th choice!"
