讓王(十)



1 Yan Hui learned from Confucius for a long time. Due to his destitution, the kid led a poor life.

顏回在孔子那兒學習已有相當長的一段日子了。這孩子家境貧窮,日子一直過的不好。

2 Someday Confucius advised Yan Hui. “Hui! You almost learn all from me. You usually lead an austere life. Do you think of going out to develop and getting a position? Looking at Zigong and Zilu, they have led a good life, don’t they?”

有一天,孔子把顏回叫來對他說:「回啊!你學的也差不多了,平時看你生活的那麼清苦,你是不是可以考慮到外面去闖一闖,求個一官半職的。你看子貢、子路他們不是都活的不錯嗎?」

孔子謂顏回曰:「回,來!家貧居卑,胡不仕乎?」

3 Feeling grateful to his teacher’s kindness, Yan Hui, however, made up his mind to practice. Not seeking honor or doing cause is his commandment for seeking soundness, tranquility and peace.

顏回對老師的好意非常感激,可是他早已立下修行的心願。不做事業,不求世榮正是他一心求沉穩,安寧,祥和心境的戒律。

4 Therefore, he replied, “I don’t want to develop outside. Though I am austere in life, I still have fifty Mu field outside the town with enough harvest for food. I also have ten Mu in the town with enough harvest to exchange gauze and linen which is sufficient for keeping warm.

因此,他回孔子的話說:「我不想到外面去發展。我雖然清苦,可是在城外我有五十畝田,其收成足夠我吃的。城內我還有十畝田,其收成換成紗麻足以遮身避體,防寒保暖。

5 At home, I can play music in my spare time, so I can entertain myself. From you, I learn ‘five aggregates are empty, which can eliminate all suffering. It is real, no virtual.’ I have food and clothes, accompanied by music, there is no vexation in my heart. Nothing is better than the mind of soundness, tranquility and peace. Why do I go out for development?”

在家,我有鼓、琴等樂器,閒時敲敲打打,足以自娛。在老師這兒我學到 "五蘊皆空,除一切苦厄。真實不虛" 的道理。我有飯吃,有衣穿,有音樂陪伴,心中沒有任何憂慮、煩惱。這種沉穩,安寧,祥和的心境又有什麼比這個更好的呢?我幹嘛要到外面去闖呢?」

顏回對曰:「不願仕。回有郭外之田五十畝,足以給饘粥;郭內之田十畝,足以為絲麻;鼓琴足以自娛;所學夫子之道者足以自樂也。回不願仕。」

6 Hearing the view, Confucius could not help but became serious. He turned and told other disciples, “Yan Hui’s view really is very right. We should take him as sample to encourage ourselves.

孔子聽到這樣的論調,不由自主地神情嚴肅起來。他呼應顏回的話,轉頭對其他弟子們說:「顏回的立論實在太正確了,我們都應該以他為榜樣來勉勵自己。

7 I hear that a man of wise, who really knows the truth of life and the ways of dealing with life, isn’t obsessed by the factors of objective environment and does not lose the life of soundness, tranquility and peace. Hence, he deals with the external things by the theory of mirror that is: He doesn’t plan the future, doesn’t miss the past, doesn’t refuse the coming things and chase the leaving things. He goes all out to do the present things, never giving them up.

我聽說,真正知道人生真相,真正會處理人生的智者,他是不會為了客觀環境的因素將自己困住,失去自由自在,沉穩,安寧,祥和的生活。因此,對這些身外之物,他都以“鏡子理論” 的要求去面對。也就是: 不預謀,不憶舊。來者不拒,去者不留。當下的事,他全力以赴,絕不手軟。

8 Therefore, he spares no effort to do things well in his duty when in office. Time and environment have changed, when he is in demission, he no long lingers over. Then, he focuses only on new things which emerging out of the mirror.

所以,他當官時,全力地將職責範圍內的事做好。時過境遷,時空轉換,不在位時,他也絕不念棧。此時,他只專注剛在鏡面中出現的新事、新物。

9 I yearn for the ideal for long time; however, I can’t give up some dreams and some plans yet. Today I listen to Yan Hui. I know that he has reached the level. It is very good.

我對這樣的理想,神望很久了。可是一些事物、夢想、預謀之事仍然丟不掉,放不下。今天聽見顏回這樣的決定,我知道顏回已經達到這樣的理想,實在太好了。

孔子愀然變容,曰:「善哉,回之意!丘聞之,『知足者,不以利自累也;審自得者,失之而不懼;行修於內者,無位而不怍。』

10 Yan Hui is our role model, worthy of learning from. It is our bliss to stay with a man like him.”

顏回是我們大家的榜樣,值得大家學習。有這樣的人在我們身邊是大家的福氣。」

丘誦之久矣,今於回而後見之,是丘之得也。」
