外物(八)
1 The men of perfect practice must be the most popular group in their environment. Under any condition they get well along with people around them as if fish stays with water.
修行完備的人他們在環境中一定是一群受歡迎，被接納的人。在任何情況下，他們都能如魚得水般與四周的人打成一片，和睦相處。
2 On the contrary, if a man often conflicts with other and gets bad along with others, he must have problem in any environment.
相反的，如果你發現一個人在團體中與人格格不入，衝突時起，那他不論在哪個環境都會出問題。
3 In our society we often see some maniac who either is crazy for collecting or enjoying material life or holds firmly some ideas to go desperately his way to do something.
社會上我們經常發現一些狂熱份子，他不是瘋狂地追逐物質的囤積及享受; 就是死抱著一些念頭，一意孤行，奮不顧身。這些都不是一位至知厚德的修行人應有的行為舉止。
莊子曰：「人有能遊，且得不游乎？人而不能遊，且得遊乎？夫流遁之志，決絕之行，噫，其非至知厚德之任與！
4 In a company, you now are my boss. I work for you from nine am to five pm and go all out to accomplish your plan because you are my boss.
在公司裡今天你是我的老闆，我每天朝九晚五為你效命，想盡辦法完成你的計劃。 誰叫你是我的老闆呢？
5 However, someday you retire or I leave the company. Then, I will not go all out to work for you anymore. The reason is simple: time and environment change so the affiliation relation is gone and it is unnecessary to obey your order. That’s all.
可是有一天，你退休，離開了位置或我離職另謀高就，我就不會死腦筋地再為你賣命做事。理由很簡單－事過境遷－我們長官部屬的關係已經消失，我沒有必要再聽你的命令，如此而已。
覆墜而不反，火馳而不顧。雖相與為君臣，時也，易世而無以相賤。
6 The saying goes like: perfect man can wander freely. It means that the wise man’s change is subject to the time and environment. He never holds firmly the past code of conduct— wonder everywhere by one feat.
有一句俗語說的好「至人不留行」，它的意思就是聰明的人，他們隨著時空的改變而調適自己的行為，絕不會死板的抱著過去的行為模式，不知變更。
故曰：至人不留行焉。
7 The common fault of learner is to admire the ancient and to despise the recent. However, if the ancient people, such as Xiwei Shi, live in nowadays society, wouldn’t they have to hold the life style and idea that are as same as ours?
尊古卑今是一般學者的通病，可是如果我們將古時狶韋氏這樣的人，移置到現今社會裡與我們一起生活，難道他們就不會與我們大多數人一樣，持有同樣的生活習慣、思想觀念嗎？
8 Most people follow the bad current, because they take on the color of their company. Only the men of prefect practice are out of exception. They don’t follow the bad current while they live with worldly people.
絕大多數的人都是同流合污，近墨者黑，近朱者赤，然而，只有修行完備的人才能出污泥而不染，與世人共同生活而不會染上時尚的一些壞習慣。
9 Though they live with worldly people, they still conserve personal central belief.
他們與世人共同生活，但是仍能保有個人的中心信仰。
夫尊古而卑今，學者之流也。且以狶韋氏之流觀今之世，夫孰能不波，唯至人乃能遊於世而不僻，順人而不失己。
10 The right attitude for our living is that though I perhaps disagree on other’s idea, I can stay together harmoniously with them.
我們生活在社會中的正確態度應該是，我不一定同意他人的見解，可是並不影響我與他們共同生活的和諧關係。
彼教不學，承意不彼。
