天道(六)
1 Tao is as deep as the sea, so explore it is very difficult.
道像深海,我們是很難探其究竟的。
2 From the macro point of view, Tao is boundless. From the micro point of view, it exists in the tiniest thing.
從大的角度看,道是無限的。從小的角度看,祂又存在於我們所知道最小的事物之中。
3 We may declare that Tao exists in all things and it is omnipresent because of above said specialty.
因為這樣的特性,我們說道存在於萬物之中,祂是無所不在的。
老子曰:「夫道,於大不終,於小不遺,故萬物備。
4 Tao is so profound that we have difficulty in establishing a clear code of conduct to replace it.
道是如此之莫測高深,世俗所謂的行為標準,根本就無法與之抗衡。
廣廣乎其無不容也,淵淵乎其不可測也。
5 Worldly punishment, award, righteousness and benevolence are very shallow and out of the standard of Nature. In the viewpoint of Tao, most of them are out of place. What is right and what is wrong? What do people to do? What should not? Nobody but those of perfect practice can figure it out.
世俗的賞罰,仁義等都是極其膚淺,而又不符自然深義的標準。站在道的立場上看,它們真可說是漏洞百出。什麼是對的,什麼是錯的? 什麼是該做的,什麼是不該做的? 除了修行完備的人能解釋清楚外,一般凡人是很難知其究竟的。
形德仁義,神之末也,非至人孰能定之!
6 Those who can distinguish the right way and the code of conduct can be in charge of the whole world; however, they won’t be involved into it and bustle for it.
能夠辨識,分得清人生正確道路及行為標準的人,他們雖然掌管整個世界,卻也不會被這項任命所拖累,整天忙得不可開交。
夫至人有世,不亦大乎,而不足以為之累。
7 They don’t scramble against careerists for interest and power. They do things as it should be done. They never change their original intention for personal interest.
野心家在那兒爭權奪利,他們不會隨之起舞。凡事應該怎麼做,就怎麼做,絕不會因為個人的利益而改變初衷。
天下奮柄而不與之偕;審乎無假而不與利遷,極物之真,能守其本。
8 Those of perfect practice are so subtle and profound in sense that they can experience the real image of things and know its’ truly meaning. Therefore, they are free from the outward distraction, temptation and obsession.
修行完備的人,因為具備了如此深邃、敏銳的觸角與感覺,因此他們能體會事物之實相,對外界的干擾、誘惑、迷幻等都視若無睹,聽若無聞。
故外天地,遺萬物,而神未嘗有所困也。
9 Understanding these, we do hold Tao in our heart on the way of practice and do conduct ourselves in the way of Tao. Worldly benevolence and righteousness are just for our reference, not the standard. As for etiquette and music, we may laugh off them. In this way, we are close to the right way of practice.
明白了這個道理,我們在修行的道路上就應該含道於心,行為舉止依道而行。對世俗的仁義只做參考,決不盲從。至於禮樂,一笑置之可也。能夠這樣,我們離修行的正途就不遠了。
通乎道,合乎德,通仁義,賓禮樂,至人之心有所定矣!」
