International Conferences
Each year the Ministry of Science initiates and organizes one or two international conferences on novel, state of the art scientific subjects whose promotion can contribute to strengthening the scientific and technological capability of Israel and the development of its national economy.
These conferences are organized in Israel and run for three or four days. The programs for multi-national conferences include: surveys, lectures on research work, round-table discussions, workshops, poster demonstrations, and professional tours in keeping with the subject and the decisions of the conference organizing committee, appointed by the Ministry.
About 100-150 scientists usually take part in multi-national conferences as lecturers or members of the listening audience. In addition to Israeli participants, the Ministry of Science generally invites about 12 well-known foreign scientists, who have established reputations in the international scientific community, to present lectures at these conferences.
These invited speakers are guests of the Ministry and consequently, the Ministry of Science provides them with airfare and local expenses. Likewise, the Ministry assumes responsibility for financing the general costs of such conferences.
