What's New?

Let me start by stating that this is NOT an "Ultralight" backpacking site.  If you are interested in cutting down your weight to the absolute minimum, please refer to my Ultralight Backpacking Links.

Let me continue by stating that I am NOT a sadist who hits the trail with a 100 lb. pack strapped on his back.

I've found a happy medium - somewhere between those who are members of the "Jardine Jihad" and people who hit the trail for a 4-day weekend of fun, complete with a loaded 7000 cu. in. pack.

It is the intent of this site to inspire fellow backpackers to trim down some weight and, at the same time, make those visitors who are ready to plunge into the "Ultralight" philosophy think twice.

Like most sites on the web, a little scope creep invaded my page. The result is a lightweight backpacking page with ancillary information regarding general backpacking how-to, safety tips, outdoor photography, information on some of my favorite places both in and outside of Michigan, and the obligatory links page.
