Insects

We tiptoed around the lemonade jar
dissolved and sunk deep to the bottom
lived amongst the leeches and windflowers
forever it seemed – oh my drunken bee
Down there it poured and he never saw
that she breastfed the earthworms, they milked out her soul
and the cat it clawed, glittered all over their garden
made it sparkle too bright, murdered every blossom
She begged, what would save these seedlings?
A cry that floated their bodies to the surface
and made us breathe again as unrecognisable creatures
