The odd digressions of the slightly askew mind of a sound person
February 11, 2007, The return of the wizard
The return of the wizard

Yes ladies and gentlemen, it has been a while since my last entry. So long in fact that I'm sure some of you thought that this was a dead story long ago forgotten. Heh Heh Heh,  but of course that is not the case...

I've been busy with other projects, such an installation in a 200 plus year old church here in Long Island (more on that in posts to follow, and when finished it will be featured in the 'Projects Gallery' of AMS Systems, my sound system design and installation company. There was another job in Long Island as well, which is still in the presentation stage, in addition to the daily task of following up on odds and ends for previously completed jobs.

I've also been busy at work on a 'Drum & Percussionist's Gallery'. This is a web spot which will feature drummers (already partially online) and percussionists (working on that this month) from all over the world and of various genres. It's basically a place where musicians can display their instruments, in some cases themselves playing their instruments, and a bit about themselves to other musicians as well as the general public.

Finally, I'm also running about trying to catch up from two days of jury duty and several days as a standby telephone juror (which essentially means that for the duration which you are a standby juror, you cannot make any plans of any substance since every evening after 5:00PM you must call in over the phone to see if you must show up the following business day.

Yes it has been a hectic few months, if I say so myself. So it is that today I take a moment to add a few words to this blog and let the world know that I'm still here and the tale of endless woe, does in fact have an end. We'll be getting to that in the next few days, so be patient....

Good things come to them that wait.

For now, I will simply summarize for you were we are in the tale of woe:
  •   We have just finally acquired the last of three power amplifiers (a task that for a combination of reasons took over a month)
  •   The console desk which took two days to ship to New York from down south took an additional two weeks to move from a warehouse in Brooklyn New York to the client location in,.... You guessed it, Brooklyn New York!

  •   We have finally received one of the two EAW Speakers that was yet to be delivered. These were to be used as new side-fill monitors.

  •   The electrician has not been heard from since we decided to finish the work ourselves with our own staff. By now we have outlets where they are supposed to be, and a minimum of additional holes bored into the structure of the building.
  •   I have settled my Issues with paypal and proven to their satisfaction that it is normal for a contractor or consultant to be paid for their services. (It seems that they just couldn't figure out why clients were paying us money. The result was that until they were satisfied that we were not drug dealers or some other such nefarious individuals being payed for our illicit doings via paypal!
So it is that we have scheduled to begin the installation, and.....
My partner gets sick! ...... on the day of the installation, when we are supposed to be working, he is sick. He is so sick as to be not even minimally productive. We will all laugh about it later, but at the moment it is a situation with very little to laugh about....

Next Stop: On with the show!
See you all soon!
