Un sentitissimo grazie ad Arkadius, fondatore e 

musicista dei Suidakra, band tedesca di grande esperienza.

[ccmm]: Finalmente "Command to charge" è stato pubblicato. Esso offre elementi maggiormente folk e forse un utilizzo più vasto di motivi strumentali e acustici. Pensi che il vostro stile sia differente rispetto ai precedenti album?

[ccmm]: At last “Command to charge” has been issued. It offers more folk elements and, maybe, a larger use of instrumental and acoustic motifs. Do you think your style differs from previous album?

[Arkadius]: Secondo me il nuovo album è quello più equilibrato. Ci sono ancora modelli tipici del sound dei Suidakra, ma anche alcune nuove, moderne e fresche idee. E' un album forte, molto aggressivo ma contiene pertanto una nascosta malinconia. Paragonato alle precedenti uscite, risulta sicuramente più innovativo e fresco. Una delle cose più importanti è la migliore struttura delle canzoni; lavoriamo di più anche sulle linee vocaliche in chiaro, per questo cd.
[Arkadius]: In my opinion the new record is our best ballnced album to date. There are still the typical Suidakra trandmarks but also some new modern fresh ideas. It's a very strong album, very agressiv but it also contains a hidden melancholy. Compared to the previous Realeses the new album sounds modern and fresh. One of the most importnat things is the better song structure and we also worked more on the clean vocal lines on this CD.

[ccmm]: Parlami di "Command to charge". Descrivici l'album e le sue peculiarità. Avete incontrato qualche difficoltà nella sessione di registrazione?

[ccmm]: Tell me about Command to charge. Describe us the album and its peculiarity. You've met any trouble in recording session?

[Arkadius]: Dopo aver lavorato per 4 anni insieme ad Andy Classen, avemmo la forza di cambiare studio per nuove fresche proposte. Trovammo uno studio vicino il paese dove abitiamo, il "Gernhart Records" ed il produttore Martin Buchwalter, che è anche il batterista della band "Perzonal War". La cosa positiva, fu che con lo stesso budget offerto a Andy Classen, ottenemmo 10 giorni in più di produzione. Abbiamo trascorso 3 settimane e mezza per la registrazione e il missaggio. E' stato grande perchè abbiamo avuto il tempo di registrare più canzoni e di fare alcuni esperimenti. Dopo tutto ciò masterizzammo il nuovo album al "Monoposto studio" a Dusseldorf, il quale è molto conosciuto per gli ottimi lavori. Hanno, infatti, lavorato con Scorpions, Doro, Tito & Tarantula...

[Arkadius]: After working for 4 years with Andy Classen together we had the feeling to change the studio for some new fresh wind. We found a studio near the town we live, the Gernhart Records studio and the producer Martin Buchwalter, who is also the drummer of the band "Perzonal War". the good thing compering to Andy Classen was that with the same budget we had 10 days more for the production. We spent 3,5 weeks in the studio for recording and the mix. It was great because we had the time to record more songs and do some experimants. After that we mastered the new album at the monoposto stusio in Düsseldorf which is very known for their good work. They worked together with Scorpions, Doro, Tito & Tarantula...

[ccmm]: Che mi dici del ritorno di Marcel?

[ccmm]: What about Marcel return?

[Arkadius]: Dopo il Summer Breeze festival, Mathias ha deciso di lasciare la band, così abbiamo chiesto a Marcel di rientrare nei Suidakra, e disse di si. Dunque Marcel è un membro della band a tutti gli effetti e ho cominciato con lui a comporre nuove canzoni per il nuovo album.

[Arkadius]: After the Summer Breeze Festival Mathias decided to left the band, so we aksed Marcel to rejoin SuidAkrA and he said yes. So he’s a full bandmenber, and I’ve already started writing new song with Marcel together for the next album.

[ccmm]: Come mai i Suidakra hanno deciso di lasciare la Century media per firmare un contratto con l'etichetta Armageddon?

[ccmm]: Why Suidakra chose to leave Century media for Armageddon label?

[Arkadius]: Eravamo un attimo delusi per la promozione fattaci. I nostri album sparirono dalla stampa perchè la Century media focalizzava sulle maggiori band. Per questo la cosa migliore da fare per entrambi fu di separarci. Avremo potuto ottenere così, una promozione più evidente. 

Contattammo alcune etichette. Sono stato in contatto con Sabina Classen, visto che facemmo un intervista in passato, ai tempi della Century media. A Sabina piacque l'album e firmammo il contratto con l'etichetta Armageddon.

[Arkadius]: We were a bit dissopointed with the promotion they did for us. Our album dissapeared in the press because CM focused on bigger bands. So it was the best for both to split, and now we have the chance to get some more promo. 
First of all we recorded the new album on our own, self financed. Than we contact some labels. I get in touch with Sabina Classen, bacause I knew her from CM Records period, we did an interview in the past. So Sabina liked the new album and we get the deal with Armageddon music

[ccmm]: Chi è il compositore pricipale e lo scrittore dei testi?

[ccmm]: Who's the main composer and lyrics writer?

[Arkadius]: Non c'è una sola persona che scrive le canzoni. Io propongo il riff principale, alcuni scritti a casa, alcuni quando jammiamo insieme. Il passo successivo è trovare un ritmo adatto sulla batteria. Quando abbiamo ottenuto dei riffs carini, proviamo a collegarli per formare una canzone jammando e perimentando differenti combinazioni, inventando bridge e così via. Marcel è il responsabile principale delle liriche, viste le migliori conoscenze nei temi storici.

[Arkadius]: There is no single person who write the songs. I bring in the main riffs –some are written at home, some when jamming together. Next step is to find a fitting rhythm on the drums and when we have gathered some cool riffs, we’re trying to connect them to form a song by jamming and experimenting different combinations, inventing bridges and so on.

Marcel is most responsible for the lyrics because he has the best background knowledge in historical themes

[ccmm]: Avete influenze da band non metal? Immagino abbiate gusti "medievaleggianti"... e quali sono i riferimenti puramente metal?

[ccmm]: Have you got any influences from “non-extreme” band? I suppose you are in folk medieval views...and which are metal ones?

[Arkadius]: In genere sono le band metal che ci influenzano. Prima di tutto ci sono da menzionare gli eroi della nostra giovinezza, come Metallica, Slayer, Death, AC/DC, che ci hanno introdotto al metal.
Le band svedesi, gli album di almeno 10 anni fa intendo, ci influenzano: gli In flames per esempio. Ma comunque tutti i membri della band cominciarono con vari tipi di metal ed altri stili musicali, così vorrei evitare di nominare particolari bands qui. 
[Arkadius]: In general they are metal band which influenced us. First of all there are to mention the heroes of our youth, like Metallica, Slayer, Death, AC/DC, who got us into Metal. I think 10 years ago this new band from Sweden… how were they called again?… Yes, In Flames, might that had an influence on SuidAkrA. But over the time all members started to get into very varied types of metal and other music styles, so I would step back from naming particular bands here.

[ccmm]: La canzone più rappresentativa dei Suidakra? Personalmente adoro "Wartunes" e ogni ballata acustica. Sono così epiche...

[ccmm]: Most representative Suidakra song? I like Wartunes, and each acoustic ballads! They're so epic... 

[Arkadius]: Ogni album dei Suidakra suona differentemente ed ogni canzone è fine a se stessa, non per una scelta stilistica tipica dei Suidakra ma perchè tentiamo di rendere il suono più vario possibile
[Arkadius]: Every Suidakra album sounds different and in my opinion every songs stands for itself not for a typicall Suidakra style because we try to keep our sound as various as we can. So I would say there is no special Suidakra representative song… 

[ccmm]: Cosa pensi del metal italiano, dove è migliorabile? E' una scena, quella italiana, spesso sottovalutata...
[ccmm]: What do you think about italian metal and where is improvable? It's a scene often devaluated...

[Arkadius]: Per essere onesto ci sono poche bands italiane che conosco per azzardare qualche opinione, lo stesso vale per la sua scena metal. Spero che questa cosa cambierà quando avrò la possibilità di suonare qualche shows in Italia.

[Arkadius]: To be honest, there are just a few bands from Italy I know, and I don’t really know much about the Italian Metal Scene to say something about it. But I hope It will changes when we have the possibility to come over and play some shows.

[ccmm]: Riguardo le esperienze dal vivo? Ricordi qualcosa in particolare?

[ccmm]: What about live esperience? Do you remember any particular gig?

[Arkadius]: Suonammo in Spagna al festival Atafe Vega Rock. Fummo spazzati via completamente! I fans del metal spagnoli sono così fottutamente entusiastici. L'intera atmosfera del festival era così rilassante. La gente apprezzava l'ascolto del Metal, senza preoccuparsi che fosse Black, Death o altro. Era così diverso dalla Germania. Ci piacque molto la Spagna e speriamo di suonarci altre volte.

[Arkadius]: We played in spain at the Atafe Vega Rock Festival. We were totally blown away !!! The spanish metal fans, are so fucking enthusiastic. The whole atmosphere on this festival was so relaxed. The peopled enjoyed just listening Metal, no matter if Black, Death, or whatever metal. It was so different to germany. We loved it in spain and hope to play more times there.

[ccmm]: Suonerete mai qui nel Sud d'Italia? Siamo sempre obbligati a raggiungere posti lontani...

[ccmm]: Will you ever play here in the south of Italy? We are always obliged to reach far places...sigh

[Arkadius]: Il problema è semplice. Abbiamo molti fans in Italia ma sfortunatamente molti di loro scaricano i nostri album illegalmente (e non solo in Italia...) e in questo caso non ci sono ragioni finanziarie per un'etichetta di proporci in questi paesi. L'unica opportunità sarebbe quella di trovare un organizzatore di festival o di concerti che fosse interessato ai Suidakra e sia d'accordo ad accollarsi le spese per il viaggio. In quel caso verremmo li a scassare tutto!

[Arkadius]: The promblem is very simply. We have a lot of fans in italy but unfortunally a lot of people download our albums illegaly (not only in Italy) and in this case there is no financial reason for a label to book us in this countries. The only chance that we have is to find a festival or gig organizier that is interested in Suidakra and pay the traveling coasts, so we came over and kick some ass.

[ccmm]: Well...thanks for the opportunity We are very grateful.
