2005 Control Line European Championship Event Report

The Ceremony was simple but interesting with a very funny parade with a band and parade dancers, thru the most principal’s streets of the city, finishing in the local castle as you can see in the photos below. Where the local entities, and a representant from the FAI, have made the opening ceremony speeches.

-- Report --

This will be a report more focus in the F2C competition although a few comments to the F2B and F2A Flying Circles

In our opinion, the organisation was good, in spite of some cases, ( that always happen ), the organization have had a good performance, (capable of doing the event) .

Although some of the competitors were disagreed of not have a flying training circle, the difficulty was to everybody. And the opportunity was the same to all participants regarding the practicing time before each day competition.

The site were the event occurred in our opinion is too close to the city. Although that proximity, the F2C flying circle was very good, no issues, however the F2B and the F2A don’t have the same luck (see the photos below).

Gyula is a small city, a beautiful and a peaceful place to return in future events.

The overall impression of the Jury was good and efficient. A positive remark for the new approach regarding the warnings to the Pilots without interfering in the race, regarding the warning of “ Pilots don’t hold “ . This is a very positive approach letting the people fly and not pay to much attention to insignificant issues as long as they not interfere in the race.

However the most negative point was regarding the second – semi final were Bondarenko – Lerner had flight with Contente - Goulão and Picard – Peret. The negative behaviour of Bondarenko that, intentionally flight high and wiping during 3 laps, to compensate the luck of laps. This anti-sportive behaviour was not penalised by the Jury. In this situation, and after the first warning for wiping some laps, in the firs half of the race, the jury should had give the second warning for wiping the second time, and the third warning for flying high. But nothing was done, even after the race finished. Bondarenko don’t need to do this, Bondarenko is one of the best pilots in the world, however this does not give him the right of wiping and flying high ( very high ). However the jury didn’t give him the warnings he deserve, and allow him the qualification to the final. This was the most negative point of the Jury. Bondarenko - Lerner are an excellent team, they don’t need this, to get a place in the final. We hope that they stop doing this in the future.

We totally disagree with this type of records, the records should be considered only if the faster team have made minimum 80 % of the race with the presence of the three Teams. This was not what have happened with the actual record.

First : The race was since the beginning, a race with only 2 teams ( in this case, the roles most not allow the record to be considered )

Second : The second Team only participate in the race during 36 laps in slow speed with the engine failing. This means that, this was an lonely record. This should never be considered. This is not the truth of the sport,…..records most be achieved in normal conditions ( with 3 Teams ) As we have in a normal race. This is not F2A.

Third : This “ F2C “ law, most be changed immediately or, this record can only be achieved in the same circumstances.

 - The good performance of Andreyev-Vorobiev with a very correct behaviour since the beginning until the end of the competition.

 - Also for the Spanish Team Perez – Aldecoa with a very good participation in the first appearance in great events. This performance have helped the 3rd place for Spain by countries, beaten France (4th place) congratulations for them.

 - Martini - Menozzi, congratulations they have a great valour, in spite being the most luck team of this European.

 - The Team Losi-Losi where the only flying 16.5 with the engine with a very happy regime ( the same as Kramarenko - Chayca) very impressive.

 - Also the French Team Ougen – Surugue making 16.7 ( and some times 16.4 in race before overheat )

 - Kramarenko / Chayka  - They are in fact the fastest Team in the world at the moment, nobody can go so fast as they . Congratulations for them, is very impressive to see them go so fast during the race. They can make very easily during the race 16,3 with the engine with a very happy regime, is very impressive to see.

- Ceramics Bearings feedback after the competition

The feedback is very, very positive, we will still continue to use in all our engines ceramic bearings. Ceramic is the future due to the reasons we already presented in our previous report. ( ceramic bearings report )

- Ceramic allow us to goo with the engine more happy in the race.

- Also allow you to overtake mutch easer during the race

- However they need first to be prepared before being assembled in the engine. We will prepare a special report only for that issue as soon as we have time.
