Not sure what type of player you are, well here is some information that will bring you up to speed. Being as it is there are many different type's of players. There's the ones that kill or the ones that get killed mostly, but besides that there are people that have a certain quality in them that makes them a good SOCOM player. So, maybe by reading this you'll be able to see in what category you seem to fit in.
Sniper:

Everyone seems to think that they can be a sniper, but there is more to it than most people think. Being a sniper means that you will probably not get to many kills, unless you are extremely good. Your accuracy must be so precise that you can take out any target, moving or not. You will also  be needed to gather intel while you back-up your men.

Assault:

A team should be composed with a range of assault men, being as this is the main part of a good Seal team. Every single member should be well trained with certain types of weapons and  in following orders. Usually the man in front is the leader of the team and he is the one who gives the command to move or attack.

Escort:

This member of the team is faced with extra tasks at hand. Mainly to rescue and escort hostages out of the danger zone. When there are no hostages to rescue then there is no use for this member, he will then be an assault man.

Recon:

This member of the team should have the best stealth in the team. Mainly so he can gather intel and point out enemies ahead. When stealth has been broken then this member will turn into a point man where he is ahead of everyone else and can take out enemies sited. Mainly all a recon man does is act like a spy.

Heavy Assault:

This member of the team is usually the one who is the strongest. Due to the fact that he carries the biggest weapon in the game. He is mostly equiped with an M60 or M63, and is expected to back-up the entire team if needed. This job is mostly meant for one man, so don't assign to many heavy assault men.

Close Quarters Combat:

Everyone is expected to be well trained in close quarters combat, incase he is split from the rest of the team. Incase you'r a sniper don't bother trying to shoot the enemy with your sniper rifle, just pull out your hand gun.

Riflemen:

This man is usually just like an assault man, but he is equipped with an M4. He acts like back-up to any other member if needed.

Demolitionist:

This member is usually equipped with plenty of HE's, M67's, and Claymore's. He can clear a room with one grenade or even secure a path with claymores. This is a risky job since you don't live long if you get caught trying to throw a grenade or plant a claymore, so be very careful unless you have back-up.
