Name: Amber Starrett
SCOS Objectives: 5.01
Analyze the components and cycles of the Solar System including:
The Sun and the Planets.
Materials/Resources/Technology: Computers for each student
Procedures:
For the closing of this unit, we will be looking at how we think the
Sun effects life here on Earth and how it effects all eight of the
other planets. To do this, we will first just talk about it in
class a little. We will read what our text books say about the
importance of the Sun and then we will take time to research the Sun on
the Internet. We will also be using other ways to research, such
as picture books, trade books, etc.
The students will then have the
opportunity to work with a partner and produce something that will show
the importance of the Sun to us and the other planets. They can
produce a newsletter, a PowerPoint presentation, a poster, etc.
They will then share their final product with the class.
Differentiation: For some students, using online resources may be easier. If this is the case, they will not be required to use any of the other trade books or picture books like the other students in the class.
Assessment:
The presentation of the final products will be the assessment for this
lesson.
