The Abbey fish pond. This ephemeral picture was taken during a period in the 1980s when public access was being made available by the destruction of a copse, through which a path (often muddy) could be followed. The copse is long gone, and the modern pond looks more like a boating lake



This card assumed (as did many people at the time) that the image was of the Loretto Chapel, the foundations of which were later discoverd close by. It was, in fact, dedicated to St. Thomas à Beckett
