Abstract

Peculiarities of coherent excitation dynamics of multilevel molecular systems

V.A. Savva, A.S. Mazurenko, V.I. Zelenkov

The results of authors’ investigation are presented into multilevel molecular systems excitation in the laser fields. For N-level equidistant systems with the resonance excitation full inversion of population is possible at some points in time. Under non-resonant conditions a selflimitation of excitation is realised: upper levels are empty. If a dipole moment function increases faster than harmonic oscillator dipole moment function then there is a finite region of frequency detunings where non-resonant selflimitation is missing. If the dipole moment of one of the transitions is significantly lower or higher than others there is population locking in the lower part of energy spectrum of the system. Multilevel molecular systems demonstrate various peculiarities of their coherent excitation dynamics in high-power laser fields.
