AMAIGBO TOWN UNION, USA Inc

Our fellow Amaigbo Citizens,

Compliments of the season and happy new year! Though, for some of us the winter season is still at the peak, however, I will like to wish you and your family a pleasant forthcoming spring season.

By now you must have heard or read about the good news regarding the birth of Amaigbo Town Union (ATU) USA, which occurred in Los Angeles on the 4th of July 03. However, if you have not, please contact Mr. Cash Ezimako(713-947-0766 )– ATU Secretary or Mr. Emeka Nwosu (281-933-9044 )– ATU Assistant Secretary for the minutes of the convention.  Also, the minutes of the convention can be obtained from your local Amaigbo organizations.

A grand total of $41,021.00 was realized at the convention. This amount was raised in the form of T-shirt sales, registration fees, Amaigbo women and Udoka dances, brochures and most importantly donations/pledges. The contribution of each item to the grand total is summarized in Table I. Also, all the expenditures made by California  (local ATU) for the 2003 convention are itemized in Table II.

Donations/pledges were 58.6% of the total amount raised. For this reason, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of you who donated or contributed in any form or fashion. However, 31% of the donations/pledges are yet to be collected. As a result, we will now like to challenge our brothers and sisters who made pledges to the Amaigbo town union at the Los Angeles’s convention to make good on their pledges, and we trust that they will fulfill their promises. We know that some of them have been asking for a name and address of where to send their payments, it is now available. Please make your checks payable to ATU and send them to Mr. Fabian Mbagwu - ATU financial secretary at:

Furthermore, in the Los Angeles’s convention the ATU members agreed that all Amaigbo households should pay annual dues of two hundred dollars ($200.00). Up till now only a little over 1.0% of all ATU members have actually paid their dues. ATU fiscal year was unanimously agreed to start from July 4th, 2003 to July 4th, 2004. We are now urging you to please send your annual dues to Mr. Fabian Mbagwu or Mr. Cletus Osuala. The next convention is scheduled for July 3-5th in Baltimore, MD and it is now fast approaching. As a result, we will like to receive your annual dues by March 1, 2004.

My fellow Amaigbo citizens, I will like to reiterate our previous message which is that the time has come for all Amaigbo sons and daughters in the US to pull their resources together to develop and invest in our town. I know, the Amaigbo citizens in US have the resources. The question is, do we have the will to invest a tiny fraction of it in Amaigbo?   Please give it a thought while you prepare for Baltimore convention.

Sincerely,

           Fabian O Mbagwu      (225 763-9898)

           Financial Secretary, ATU-USA Inc.
