To some people
it is the outside,
the external
is all they see.
They judge
their fellow
on the lack
of make up
or fancy cloths
They judge
on weight
or hair
or height
Yet
it is the inside
that try I look to
to see the soul within
I find that
when I know someone
I can see the soul
shine through
A soul of one
selfish
or shallow
shines grey
and gloomy
A soul of one
generous
deep with Torah
shines brilliant
and beautiful.
"Grace is falsehood,
and beauty is nothing,
but a woman who fears G-d is to be praised"
(Proverbs 31:30)

As we travel
this road called life
we have companions
along the way.
Some come into our lives
and exit quickly
some stay longer
and exit abruptly, painfully
leaving scars on the road.
Family stays with us
hopefully all along their
or our road
touching us
aiding in our growth
as we aid in theirs.
And then there are friends
who enter our lives
early or later
they travel with us
in good times and bad
their presence
enriching our lives
and our road.
To all of my friends
remember with whom you travel
you are in my thoughts often
as I care too
for the road you travel
and even more for the person traveling.
Remember, you are never alone....

I have seen
many hurtful words
flying from fingers
typed without a thought
Fun turns to pain
accusations fly
games turn sour
hurtful words flame
Souls are burnt
scars are made
as words dig deep
more hurtful words.
Better healing words
than hurtful words
better compromises
than brandings.
Better to say
I am sorry
than to stew
to spew hurtful words.
Remember
people can be hurt
words can kill
words can scar
Watch your words
care for the other
do not hurt them
with your words

Monday was
my last shift
in a job I had
for years
There from the days
when there was less
less people
less rooms
less hosts
Roomies
and I said a tearful
and emotional
goodbye
Amazed, I was
by how many cared
how many will
really, truly, miss me,
as I will miss them.
Some will still see me
in the topicals
the ones I have kept
others may see me
from time to time
in civies,
just to visit.
Still, I will miss
the regular time
with the roomies
yet I know with endings
come beginnings
and so to will it be with this.

All people are
precious to G-d
as all were created
in the image of G-d
so said
Rabbi Akiva
He was right
all of us,
we are precious
special
unique
beloved of G-d.
G-d loves us
wants us to grow
wants us to do good
wants us to live
as He intends us to live.
Remember, always
you are precious
you are special
you are unique
and most importantly
remember you are loved
and never, ever alone.

Learning disabilities
Attention deficits
Auditory memory deficits
And gifted
A different mind
Cognitively disabled
A neurologist said
When I was a baby.
Slow and clumsy
Was what they called me
When I was little
A different mind
Meant I struggled
Until finally,
blissfully
I was tested,
Diagnosed
Twice exceptional
Gifted and disabled
One masking the other
Some days I feel the weight
of my LD
Others the blessings
of my gifts
A different mind
Means I have been there
I know what it is like
always
To struggle
To have to work so much harder
for everything
Yes, I have a different mind
But I also know
LD does not mean dumb
ADD does not mean lazy
Being disabled taught me
Compassion
Respect
And acceptance of others
With different minds
from me
