TIEBREAK: Mixed
Emotions

VACATION is just around the
corner. As this most awaited break comes, people
are filled with mixed emotions. Doing those last
minute scanning for the Finals, booking a trip
for Isabela, finishing numerous paperwork,
deadline of articles for my one-man section and
my adopted section for the CSJ Annual. Just when I was getting
the hang of this hectic sked, I get stuck in the
horrible traffic along España on my way to UST.
These are the pressures stuck with me as of
presstime; I would like to scream to have a
break. Somehow, it affects my way of thinking,
driving me crazy, enough to make me utter
irrational and non-sense comments. The CSJ staff experiences this level of
toxicity whenever a school year ends all year
round. Trying to meet deadlines and being fair in
every article without sacrificing quality for
quantity is just the icing on the cake. The work
we do isnt just simple write-and-publish.
We deal with many days of bloody editing, lay
outing, and practically beg the heavens for the
circulation fund to be released on time.
"Living on the edge", thats the
life of a writer.
The Dean Bernas-Palarong Agham merged
issue had its own dose of criticism, late,
unsatisfactory shading, and the usual typing and
layout errors. Though everyone is entitled to his
or her opinion, to be accused of unfairness is
objectionable. Moreover, the cover alone gives
you an idea of what the newsletter contains which
is "Truth and Excellence in Science".
Speaking of the
Palarong Agham, it seems that the said
"coordinated activity" will never
culminate. The original plan was to hold the
championships on the recently concluded Science
Week but it did not push through. The wins by
default, the wasted money for the court
reservation and referee fee (who calls on
violations erroneously) may again end up in
files. Another concrete example of Ningas Cogon!
Thomasians
celebrated Christmas without the most treasured
basketball crown. The four-year Tiger reign has
ended and the "strive for five" took a
dive. However, UAAP is not just about the hoops
but a whole variety of sports spectacles. I hope
we continue to dominate and capture the UAAP
Over-all Championship for the 15th
successive time. Its the UST Dynasty, after
all.
And the best
complement to Science athletes came when the
College was awarded the Over-all Champion of the
Inter-collegiate Sports Intramurals. Moral
support is one of the vital aspects in sports.
See how the UST Administration care for the
varsity athletes who represent the university?
Nevertheless, this support was seen lacking by
the Science teams. The moral support highly
depends on the faculty members. As observed, only
the Department of Math and
Physics
under Dr. Leticia del Rosario came in full force
during the volleyball tournament.
Personal: A
Happy Vacation to all especially to the H-bonds,
the 3C-Biology family and a Happy
Graduation to the seniors!
