Talk on Chemistry Cathy Sagun

IN CELEBRATION of its 50th
anniversary, the Psychology Department sponsored a
lecture-forum entitled, "Chemistry of Human
Behavior" last Feb. 6 at AVR Room 311. The guest speaker, Dr. Corazon
Menguito holds a doctoral degree in Biochemistry
and Molecular Biology and is presently an
associate professional lecturer here in the
College. During her talk, she modified the
original title to "The Biochemistry of Human
Behavior" for it concentrated on the
biological and chemical basis of behavior.
Following the
talk was an open forum where the questions of the
audience were brought up. The program was
concluded with the closing remarks of Dean Bernas who emphasized the
importance of the link between Psychology and
Chemistry.
The three-hour
lecture was conducted in memory of Fr. Angel de Blas, OP, founder of the
Department of Psychology in UST. Dr. Noemi Catalan, chairman of the
Department, shared that she was once a student of
Fr. de Blas, so she gave the students an insight
into his personality via several entertaining
anecdotes. He is the one responsible for several
landmarks in UST, the most prominent of which are
the statues on the 4th floor of the
Main Building.
