| ONCE AGAIN, the UST Mathematical Society (MathSoc) has proven that academic
excellence is still their first priority by
relaunching the PinakaMATHinik Quiz Bee at AVR 311, Dec 11. President Paulo Mallari also cited that the
contest was organized exclusively for BS Math majors aimed to challenge the
Mathematical ability of the students and to
develop unity among the participants.
PinakaMATHinik was divided into two categories:
the Junior Division (for the 1st and 2nd year
students) and the Senior Division (for the 3rd
and 4th year students). The participants were
selected from the crop via a qualifying exam for
the elimination round and those who made it
competed in the final round.

students were the PinakaMATHinik winners from
first to third places, respectively:

On the other
hand, the 1st Intersociety Basic Math Quiz Bee
was also launched by MathSoc last Dec. 13 at AVR
311. This contest was intended for all
organizations of the College of Science excluding
the host society.
Dr. Leticia del Rosario, Department Chair of Math and Physics was present to give an
inspiring opening remark, as well as praises to
the organizers of the said activity. Professor Richard See judged the said event.
The winners of
the 1st Intersociety Basic Math Quiz Bee hailed
from non-major organizations. They are the
following from first to third places.

were given to the participants and medals were
