University-Wide Workshop on Self-Instruction
Modules Michael Francis C. Andrada
|
IN ITS COMMITMENT to uplift the
standard of education, the College of Science, in
cooperation with the Office for Academic Affairs,
conducted a three-day lecture on the development
of modules for self-instruction. The said forum
entitled "Seminar Workshop on the
Development of Instructional Modules in Science
and Technology" was held at Rm. 311 from Oct. 28 to 30. Dr. Celia Adriano, guest
speaker from UP Diliman, discussed a more
effective approach in teaching the
development of instructional modules that
will be of benefit to both teachers and students.
Furthermore, workshops were conducted in the
succeeding afternoons to enable the participating
teachers to apply their recently acquired
knowledge.
Twelve of the
fifteen participants were from Science. The
limited number of participants "was in
fulfilment of the speakers request for a
small audience," Dr. Aguinaldo, Chair of the Chemistry Dept. said. She added,
"We just chose representatives although we
wanted the whole college to benefit from
it."
To compensate
for this, the Chemistry Department conducted an Echo
Seminar last Nov. 11 at Rm. 306. It was a follow-up seminar,
which aimed to share the knowledge extracted from
the previous seminar workshop. The Echo Seminar
featured speakers Rene Dilan, Erlinda Espeso, Ma. Cristina Ramos and Joyce Tan, all from the Chem.
