Northern Irish lads V//Formation have recorded a corker of a single here, and one that makes me feel bad about not listening to it sooner. It opens with the excellent ‘Little Heart.' The radio edit doesn't mess around, getting straight to the point with a pounding drumbeat and lovely scuzzed up guitar. The vocals seem to be a strange cross between Frank Black at his more relaxed and Brett Anderson. The longer version that follows it is a little more drawn out (well, obviously) and I rather like how it builds up before dropping back to nothing.
‘Open the Oceans' has a funkier feel to it, with the guitars reminiscent of dream pop, layers covering you like a blanket. It's a sound that could set them apart from their sound-alike contemporaries both here and abroad.
