Artist: This Et Al It seems that as their fame grows and the critical acclaim continues to pour down, This Et Al have been moving to an ever-heavier sound, though one that still retains the accessibility that could see them become world-beaters. The latest limited edition 7” to come from the band, the double A-side ‘Wardens/Rotary Queen', is set for release on Jealous Records on November 28 th , and really, this could be the one that sees them make the leap from the underground to the cover of your favourite music rag. ‘Wardens' follows a similar pattern to previous releases, all angular guitars and singer Wu sounding angrier and more desperate all the time. But it's ‘Rotary Queen' that catches your attention, and in all honesty, it could be the best song This Et Al have put to disc yet. It starts off sounding like a gentler piece, but quickly mutates into a rumbling, rolling beast, albeit one that keeps falling back instead of finishing you off. In this respect it's like a cat toying with a mouse, keeping you on edge until you finally succumb. It's the sort of song I'll pester everyone I know to hear until they hit me. This Et Al are going to be huge. They have to be; a sound this huge, this incredible, can't be kept secret for long. Normally I disagree with the NME out of principle, but I've got to say they hit the nail right on the head – This Et Al are ace. Picture comes from www.thisetal.com - I'm sorry it looks lame. |
