History

The Knights of the Altar is a program that was created on July of 1988, by Father Stephen Kealy and Sgk. Lloyd Ligayo, in order to promote the art of serving God and teach servers the important points of leadership, fellowship, honor, responsibility, loyalty, and discipline.

The purposes of being an Altar Server are to serve God, the community, and assist the celebrant during celebrations. In return, the Lord gives the servers the grace and blessings for serving and standing by him on the altar, where his presence exists.

Therefore, with the help of Saint Stephen, the patron saint of the Altar Servers, and God, the Knights of the Altar will succeed and forever reign as one of the true severs of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

KOA Prayer and Creed

To be Christ's page at the altar,
To serve Him freely there,
Where even the angels falter,
Bowed low in reverent prayer.
To touch the throne most holy,
To hand the gifts for the feasts,
To see Him meekly, lowly,
Descend at the word of the priests.
To hear man's poor petition,
To sound the silver bell,
When He is sweet submission,
Comes down with us to dwell.
No grander mission surely,
Could saints or men enjoy;
No heart should love more purely,
Than yours, my altar girl or boy.
God bless you forever,
And keep you in His care,
And guard you that your never,
Belie the robes you wear.
For while bespeaks untained,
A heart both tried and true;
And red tells love the sainted,
And holy martyrs knew.
Throughout life, then, endeavor,
God's graces to employ;
And be in heart forever,
A holy altar girl or boy.

KOA Mascot

Meet our Mascot Brownie!

We found Brownie in a box that was left on the sidewalk in front of our church. Lloyd, Maurus, and Christine did not want Brownie to end up in a pound. So, Lloyd took him home and still takes care of him. Brownie is part Rotweiler and part Pitbull. As you can see, he is a no non-sense type dog. Just like the Knights of the Altar, we are the no non-sense type youth liturgical organization who takes serving God very seriously. This picture was taken Christmas 1999. Believe me, he can jump on cars now.
Be very afraid evil do-ers!!!
