| Call me- I could
host this on a better domain. dkealphaomega.com? dke-alphaomega.com? - David Gary |
| I would like to see
a donation to a Childrens Hospital or Alumni Fund. That is to say, A grant
to students of Alumni for higher education. - Jay Rive' |
| Good site. Much better
than the old one. Can you get this one linked up with the national's site
like the old one was? I've noticed DKE has been moving into smaller schools like USA and Fla Atlantic... has there been any thought of getting AO restarted somewhere like UL-Lafayette or even S Miss? The precident has already been set for that sort of thing. ZZ was not originally at LSU and ther are others like that. Just a thought as I can't stand Tech and I don't think they'd have us back. - Chris Neyland |
The alumni fund
will need to have a clear goal in order for anyone to support it. |
| ...Its almost if
we need mandatory quarterly dues. That would get the message across. even
if its only $10, people would do it. What is that...$3.33/ momth. Ok,
thats easy, just forfeit one trip a month to Starbucks and, wham (not
the band) you've got it. Let the word get out. $40/year from even 25%
of the guys would add up. Thats a $1,080. and would easily pay for a pop
up free site and a nice Undertakers every Oct... - John Butt |
| I would like for
an active member to send me the property description for the property
that Alpha Omega owns in Ruston. I get conflicting info on who's name
the property is titled under. It is my understanding that Michael Parker
has been payiny the property taxes on the property and the property was
transfered to him by donation from the Alpha Omega Literary Society. This
is good that it is in Mike's name. However, it is from my understanding
that Alpha Omega Lterary Society was an LLC or Corporation at one time.
Whomever set up the LLC or corporation and was named president etc,. had
to have a corporate resolution that needed to be filed giving them the
authority to sale, transfer, encumber the property etc,.( I just need
more details on this and will be able to find ou the details once I have
an abstractor pull the property and do some research) There are several
practicing attorney's in Alpha Omega. We are no longer a bunch of young
men without having proper direction on how to do things the right way
which ended up costing us the original house. I have been told that several
ideas have been thrown around on possible plans for the current property
that Alpha Omega supposedly owns. I WOULD STRONGLY ADVISE TO ALL MEMBERS. BEFORE ONE DOLLAR IS SPENT ON THE PROPERTY THE ABSOLUTE AND #1 FIRST STEP THAT WE MUST DO IS TO PULL TITLE ON THE PROPERTY. WE MUST HIRE AN ABSTRACTOR (WHICH I WILL PAY IF SOMEONE CAN GIVE ME AN ADDRESS OR PROPERTY DESCRIPTION)TO PULL TITLE ON THE PROPERTY. The one thing that I can almost garantee from looking at our history on how we did things in the past, because we did not know any better is that the title to the property has probably been transfered incorrectly. This can be a major problem if it is not corrected. I can fix this I do not mean to offend anyone who was looking out for the chapters best interest at the time when this was done. I truely appreciate those whom have done the best that they could. Most members, including myself, went our seperate ways and have neglected our duties to eachother as brothers and our chapter as a whole. I am speaking for myself when I say "DKE does not owe me. I owe DKE" I believe that since we have all established ourselves that we should all pull together and give back to our chapter. I do a great deal of real estate work in my practice as well as personal injury and criminal work. (I wish I was around doing criminal work back in the days) I know that we have initiated 100-130 members. There are several of us who can give money to the chapter to get it up and running. We can easily get 50k/75k in donations from the alumni to put down as down payment to build a house. This can all be worked out to get a loan from a bank without any one, two, five, ten, people etc,. holding the bag and being srtung out owing money to a bank. WE WILL NOT LET THIS THING FOLD ONCE WE GET IT STARTED. We will get started and then bring in new members"NBWD". I would suggest that because so many of the alumni do not live in Ruston that the Ruston alumni do the pledgeship and oversee the running of the Fraternity. We will have to make some changes as to how we did things in the past that we were accustomed to but things will come around in time. As far as getting our charter back I do not see that being that big of a problem. National's will see that the chapter has a new direction because of its new leadership. They will see that they are dealing with professionals now. There may be a probation period, but we will get through it. As far as the University is concerned I am sure that have not forgotten about the BOYS FROM DKE but we will over come that hurdle as well. I believe that young men will flock to a new DKE chapter. When they see that a house is being built they will want to be a part of something that is old , but new to them. They will see all the very sharp and successfull Alumni and want to be a part of us. We can do this if we all get involved and have good leadership. I will await a response from any alumni that can get me the info I need so I can get CLEAR TITLE to the property. This is the ABSOLUTE and FIRST STEP that needs to be taken. - Andy DeJean |
