Some General Travel Tips
1. Carry only those things which are required at minimum. Do not load yourself with so many things. As per one statistics, people generally need only 40% of the things, they actually carry.
2. Carry mosquito repellents, cap, torch and an extra pair of socks and inner garments.
3. Do not try to cover so many things in less time, you may cover many things but will not able to relax and enjoy. Remember holidays are to relax!!

Tips to Drivers
Here are a few tips from my experiences, if you are driving on your own on Highways.

1. Before start, make sure that your vehicle is in good condition. Check the Lights, Brakes and Horn etc.
2. Do extensive use of horns, particularly at bends and curves and also on slopes, if you are not able to see the road beyond you.
3. Do not overtake any vehicle on curves. Also do not overtake, if you are not able to see atleast 100 meters of road infront of you.
4. ALWAYS drive in your lane. Do Lane change carefully and making sure no other vehicle is in vicinity.
5. In case of poor visibility, drive with Lights and/or blinkers on. Do extensive use of horns. Drive slowly.
6. If you need to stop the vehicle at slope, then put the handbrake and start by accelerating and putting down handbrake slowly.
7. Always drive at speed, in which you are comfirtable. Do not get tempted by other speeding vehicles.
8. Please be aware that Highway driving is different than City driving. You need to be very attentive. Avoid talking, eating etc while driving on Highways. Indian roads with its characteristic features like potholes etc. require extra precaution.
9. Take rest at regular intervals. I suggest at every 2 hours or 70-80 KMs, or whenever you feel tired. As per one statistics, over 80% accidents happens, because of fatigue of drivers. So anytime, if you feel tired, stop and take some rest.
10. The driver should be in cheerful mood and his seating should be comfortable.
11. When you cross through a rural or suburban area, please slow down and be extra cautious. Some children or pets may suddenly come on road.
12. Do not enter in an area if there is water logging and you do not know the depth of water there. Also potholes etc are not visible at that time. GREAT PREACAUTION IS NEEDED, IF YOU ARE DRIVING IN RAIN.
13. Do not drive behind any vehicle for long. You may not be able to see any pothole or any such thing. If you have to drive behind any other vehicle then keep good distance so that you have enough time to apply brakes, if needed.
14. And last but not the least,
throw away driving fear. If your are fearful, dont drive.
