1. THE TRUTH ABOUT PYECRAFT.

LONG QUESTION.

Pyecraft was the fattest in London. He ate too much. He was very talkative. He always talked about his fatness. Any person, who met him, he told him about it and asked him the way to get rid of this trouble.

One day he met Formalyn and made friendship with him. He always talked about his fatness. Pyecraft came to know that the grandmother of Formalyn was a Hindu lady. She left some wonderful recipes, which could reduce weight. Pyecraft requested Formalyn to give him a recipe to reduce his weight. Formalyn became sad when he came to know that his secret was disclosed. Pyecraft promised that he would not tell about his secret that his grandmother was a Hindu lady. After some discussion, Formalyn agreed to give him the recipe.

The recipe consisted of strange things such as rotten eggs, poison of snake and brain of a stray dog. He prepared the recipe. He used it but it produces no effect. There was no change in his body. He had made a mistake in preparing the recipe. He used fresh eggs instead of rotten eggs. He tried to discuss the matter with Formalyn but he did not want to talk. Pyecraft tried and corrected the mistake. He prepared the recipe once again and took the larger dose of the medicine and grew lighter. Now he was weightless.

One day Formalyn received his telegram requesting to see him at once. Formalyn got the address from the club and went to meet him. Formalyn reached Pyecraft’s house. He came to know that he was shut in his room. When he entered the room, he found Pyecraft stuck to the roof of his room. He was floating in the air. Formalyn at once understood the whole thing. The recipe was for the reduction of weight. Pyecraft requested him to tell him what to do. Formalyn gave him useful suggestions. He told him that he should have lead plats under his clothes. He should have some lead in the sole of his boots and some in his pockets. He should carry a bag with him, which should be full of lead. All this would give him some weight and he would be able to lead a normal life again. Pyecraft acted upon his advice and began coming to the club once again. Except Formalyn, no one knew that he was weightless.

    1. TWENTY MINUTES WITH MRS. OAKENTUBB.

Mrs. Oakentubb was the wife of a rich merchant. She lived at Stainthrope. One night she was driving her car at a fast speed to win a bet. At a turn of a road, she tries to overtake a bus. At the very moment a lorry appeared from the opposite direction. Her car was going to meet an accident. She turned her car towards the footpath and killed a woman and her daughter. She was sentenced to eighteen months imprisonment. It was a very little punishment. The husband of the woman was not satisfied with this punishment.

Mrs. Oakentubb was going to Stainthrope. She reached the railway station. The train was due after twenty minutes, so she had to stay in the waiting room. The night was dark and stormy. After sometime a man also arrived there. He was also going to Stainthrope they began talking to pass the time. The man told the lady that he was going to Stainthrope to kill Mrs. Oakentubb because she had killed his wife and daughter two years ago. Mrs. Oakentubb got frightened. She moved the suitcase and hides the label of her name. She told that court had punished Mrs. Oakentubb. She thought that the man was not aware that she was Mrs. Oakentubb.

When five minutes were left in the arrival of the train, the man suddenly declared that he had recognized her. She was Mrs. Oakntubb. He would kill her. When Mrs. Oakentubb realized that her life was in danger, she decided to do some acting. She told the man that she was much grieved for the accident. She said that the scene of the sad accident always came before my eyes. Her life was miserable. She wanted to get rid of this life. Saying this she fell down and began to weep.

The man thought that it was better to keep her alive in this bitter life. So he gave up the idea of killing her. He kept his pistol in his pocket and went out. As the man went out, she jumped up in joy. The man saw through the keyhole. He came in and killed her.
