Specialized E-mail Freebies
In this section, we take a look at various specialized
free E-mail programs and services on the Web. Our
listings here include free services that let you offer
your own custom, branded E-mail service on your Web
site, to services that let you turn your pager into a
wireless messaging center. We also review free services
that perform such useful tasks as encrypting your
E-mails from snoops.
Please send us email : [email protected]
if you're aware of any similar free specialized E-mail
services that we haven't listed below, or if you find
dead or expired links.
myTrashMail.com
This free service offers temporary, disposable
E-mail accounts that you can use to protect your
privacy and also reduce the spam you receive. It's a
handy service to use when you're reluctant to use
your main, primary E-mail address when you're
prompted to enter an E-mail address online.
YourMailingListProvider.com
Would you like to set up a newsletter for your
site's visitors? This site offers free, ad-supported
hosting for mailing lists. It's easy to set up: all
you need to do is sign up, and then cut and paste a
section of HTML to your pages (which creates a
subscription form, which your visitors can use to
sign up for your newsletter). This
service is offered in English, French and Dutch
versions.
Everyone.net
(Note: This service is no
longer free. The basic package now costs $9.95 per
month). Have you ever wanted to offer a free
E-mail service of your own to your site's visitors
(just like the big boys like Yahoo and Lycos)?
Everyone.net offers such a service: they offer
industrial strength, branded E-mail that you can
customize to match your site's appearance. What's
more, you can earn revenue with this service (You
get half of the ad inventory to run your own
banners).
MailStart.Com
(Note: this service is no
longer free). This service allows you to use
your browser to read your E-mail, reply, forward,
delete and send new messages, making your E-mail
accessible from anywhere. There's no need to obtain
a different E-mail address or to have your mail
forwarded; this system is a gateway that actually
contacts your mail server and converts the content
to HTML allowing easy access to your regular E-mail.
SpamCop
This free service helps you fight unsolicited junk
E-mail and helps you punish spammers by reporting
them (which is normally a tedious, technical
process). There's a helpful FAQ here to help you get
started.
T-Mail.com
This free, easy-to-use service will translate your
E-mail for you. You can use it to help ease the
language barrier with your friend and business
contacts overseas. Supported languages are English,
Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese.
Note that the translations are done by computer and,
as a result, may be flawed, and "cannot be
relied upon for documents which require precise
translation."
Mailto
Encoder
Fight spam with this free service, which will format
your E-mail address in a way that makes it
unreadable by any E-mail extractor or search engine
(the favorite tools of spammers).

can help you organize your life and remind you of
