There's not really much I feel I can say about this resort. This was my first trip at a down south destination so I was in awe most of the week we were there. The whole experience is one I'll remember simple becaue it was my first. The first thing that I remember was getting off the plane and having the heat and sun hit me! WOW. It also was my first time seeing palm trees in person. I remember how taken I was with the lobby at Gran Ventana though - it was very nice. The resort is also situated in the Playa Dorada resort area so there were lots of other resorts around as well as a central shopping plaza. Since the whole resort area is gated you could walk around the road/walkways without any hassles. In the centre of this area was a golf course. The lay out of this resort too was very convienient. There were then two building for rooms with the pool and pool bar situated in between them. The buildings were brightly colored and looked very nice. Each building had it's rooms around the outside of a central courtyard. The buffet was just off the lobby across from the pool. The stage area was off the lobby too, opposite the buffet. The beach was nice but not the best. Of course at the time it was great! There was lots of beach for walking in either direction. Our room was nicely decorated but rather basic. The bathroom however was a good size. There was no mini bar in the room when we were there and we had to get water from the bars for drinking and brushing our teeth. I don't really remember spending much time on the balcony but I'm pretty shore we had a view of the ocean through the trees. The buffet restuarant was very nice. We liked the setup, food and the service. There were 2 a la cartes. One was up stairs from the lobby and was quite elegant. The other was the beach restuarant. We really liked the upstairs one where the food and servcie were very nice. We both were not feeling good the day we went to the beach one so it did not impress us much. The pool area was very nice and there were plenty of tables and chairs around for sititng and watching the afternoon events. There was a swim-up bar which really made an impression on me since this was another first. It has since been something we look for in a resort. There weren't really must in the way of grounds since this resort took up very little space. Mainly there was one walkway from the pool to the beach with flowering plants along it. There was not much walking required to get around this resort or to the shopping plaza which was just up the street. |
