Big Rack Contest

When:  Saturday March 21, 2009

 

Time:  Beginning at 4:00 P.M.

 

Where: Allamakee County Sportsman’s Club

4 miles West of Waukon on Highway 9

 

 Scorers will be available for Pope + Young, Boone + Crocket, and ABGFR. Cost is $5.00 at the door and includes one rack to be scored. Additional racks can be scored for $2.00 each. As always we will have all the chili you care to eat.  At 8:00 we will be having our drawing for our gun raffle. Tickets will be available at the rack contest for the gun raffle.  Plan now to attend, for a great opportunity to enter the contest and get your rack(s) scored, see lots of great racks, socialize, get your belly full of chili, and maybe even win a gun!

MEMBERSHIP DUES

Dues are due. Please take a minute now to fill out the enclosed form and mail back to Glen and Holly Palmer. You won’t want to miss a single issue of this years newsletters or all the exciting events at the Allamakee County Sportsman Club. Please note the dues are now $40.00.

INDOOR ARCHERY

The sign up sheets are posted on the bulletin board in the club house. Sunday night will start on January 11, 2009, Thursday night will start on January 15, and Friday night will start on January 16. Previous years shooters will have first dibs for sign-up.  If you have never been in a league, but have interest, sign up and give it a try.

Several have asked about another league on Tuesday night for individuals. Come out next Tuesday night January 13, 2009 for more league info.

Two indoor tournaments have been schedule for this winter.  Mark them on the calendar (the dates are below) and be sure to come out to test your skills. 

Also just a reminder - there is a $2.00 per visit fee when using the indoor range other than during league. This fee also entitles you to one new target.  This is to help pay for the heat.  Be sure to sign in and put your name and date on an envelope with the money into the deposit box.  Also, if you turn up the heat, be sure to turn it back down before leaving.

Gun Raffle

Once again this year we will have a gun raffle. Enclosed with this newsletter is a book of tickets. Last years raffle was a big success and everyone seams to like a chance to win a gun. Take a moment to fill out the raffle tickets and send back with your dues. If you need more tickets contact any of the board members. Get out and sell these tickets as are out only major fund raiser for the coming year. Drawing will be held at 8:00 PM during the Big Rack Contest.

Big Rack Contest and Possible Flea Market

The big Rack contest will be held on March 21, 2009. Scoring of antlers will start at 4:00. Last year we hosted a flea market before the Big Rack Contest. If you would like to see this again please let a board member know as we can schedule this at the January meeting.

OFFICER/BOARD ELECTION

The election transpired in October.  The votes were extremely close, but in the end the following prevailed:

President – Paul Melsha

Vice President – Earl Goodman

Secretary – Team Palmer, Glen and Holly

TreasurerRandy  Petersburg

Second Term Board Members:  same as last year

Newly Elected Board Members: same as last year

Remember, the monthly meeting is held the 1st Wednesday of every month, and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
