[Von walks down a hall, there is a sign saying Krathmore Art Society presents Eric Lester. She pauses at this. Voices can be heard Id like to present Eric Lester.*clapping* Von walks up stairs. In room Eric is standing on a podium there is a large audience.]

Eric: Well first Id like to thank your fine committee members for inviting me here to address you all on the burning subject of abstract expressionism and its haloed place in Australian contemporary art. *Camera switches between Eric and Von* As I look around at the faces assembled before me I can almost smell the intensity the fire of which you are all consumed by this totally irrelevant anachronistic art form. *one lady gets up and walks out towards the exit* Hey where are you going I havent started yet! *Eric collapses, people rush towards him someone says Call a doctor.

::starting CREDITS::

[All Saints hospital in the corridor, Eric is in a bed being wheeled out behind him is Von and another nurse.]

Von: He was inebriated I thought he had just passed out but it seems hes had some sort of stroke, here these were the only personal details I could get. *hands nurse yellow flyer*

Nurse: Okay, um would you like us to give you a call, let you know?

Von: No need.

Nurse: Okay thanks.

[Outside All Saints, Ben, Bron, Matt and Scott are heading in for a days work.]

Scott: I swear to you thats how it goes?

Matt: Do it again.

Scott: *mimics drum playing*

Matt: No I can see what you are trying to do just chill out half the time. *mimics it slower*

Scott: Thats not as good though!

Matt: What are you talking about then you bring in the guitar! *mimics rocking guitar and bashes through Ben and Bron who were walking together.*

Bron: Give it a rest! *Both Matt and Scott walk ahead, Matt playing his guitar and Scott bopping his head, Ben stops Bron for a second*

Ben: Hey have you got any plans for tonight?

Bron: Well I was looking forward to having the place to myself for a change.

Ben: Oh well, look I made a reservation at Benardos but umm, I can come over and cook if you like?

Bron: What brought this on?

Ben: *smiles* Do I need a reason?

[Bron and Matt walk into Ward 17]

Matt: Oh come on man makes an expensive restaurant reservations theres got to be a reason.

Bron: Not necessarily, Ben likes food. *Both are now behind the front desk*

Matt: Well knowing him its probably celebrating the anniversary of your first kiss.

Bron: Well I know its very nice and everything I just havent had any space to myself for ages.

*Kylie walks towards desk*

Kylie: Matt, Heather Robart cochlear implant. *Matt gives her the file*

Luke: Professor Beatie!

Kylie: Sorry?

Luke: Youre working with her today the cochlear implant.

Kylie: So?

Luke: So shes one of the pioneers of cochlear technology.

Kylie: Ive seen cochlear implants before.

Luke: Thats not the point. Youre working with a legend a female one!

Kylie: And what has that got to do with it?

Luke: You dont find that inspiring at all?

Kylie: Luke, I dont need a role model, I have you. *starts walking off Jared stops her*

Jared: Good morning.

Kylie: Hi.

Jared: What happened to you? I woke up and you were gone

Kylie: Early start.

Jared: Well you could have waited for me. *Kylie walks off*

[Mitch walks with a wheel chair and in it is Roses mother Victoria!]

Victoria: This is so unnecessary!

Mitch: Well you let me be the judge of that. Alright? *walks to Terri* Look I went round to drop off Lucy and I could be worry about nothing but she had that grey cardiac look about her and I didnt want to leave her alone.

Terri: Well you know the rules you cant treat your mother in law?

Mitch: Well I wasnt about to leave her there especially with Lucy caring about.

Terri: Where is Lucy?

Mitch: Shes in the crche.

Terri: Paula, can you put Mrs Cartman in 4 please query cardiac condition.

Paula: Sure, Hi Im Paula Ill be nursing you today. *wheels her off*

Victoria: This is so silly

Mitch: *to Terri* Thanks.

Terri: Nelson Im going to be in my office.

Nelson: I hate the way doctors get away with that!

Von: Get away with what?

Nelson: Thats Mitchs mother in law right? Its preferential treatment.

[Room 4, Paula, Roses Mother and Mitch.]

Luke: Mrs Cartman, Im Luke Forlano.

Victoria: This is a waste of everyones time.

Luke: Well weve got you here now so Im just going to ask you a few questions about your symptoms. Apart from the tiredness has there been any pain?

Victoria: Nothing to cause this sort of nonsense, a little tightness in the chest.

Luke: Shortness of breath?

Victoria: Sometimes Lucys a fairly active little girl.

Luke: Now the pain, does it ever radiate into your neck, jaw or arms?

Victoria: No.

Luke: I want you to think of the worst pain youve ever felt.

Victoria: Childbirth hands down.

Luke: Now on a scale of 1 to 10 using childbirth as a 10 how does it compare?

Victoria: 2 or 33.

Luke: How are her obs?

Paula: BP 160 on 80, sinus rhythm 70, 02.99%

Luke: Good. Ok Paula will be doing an ECG, in the meantime Ill like a transidome patch 25 milligrams, and if the pain becomes more acute we can administer a fast acting spray. Well need to do some more blood tests just to make sure you havent had an event.

Victoria: Event? What a heart attack?

Luke: Just a precaution.

Victoria: Well surely if I had a heart attack Id know about it!

Luke: Well not necessarily.

*Professor Beatie walks in*

Luke: Professor Beat! Forlano we met a few years ago at a at a mental conference in the Blue Mountians.

Professor Beatie: Luke?

Luke: Thats right.

Professor Beatie: How I could I forget, Heather Robart?

Luke: Over here. *leads prof. Beatie to Heather, Kylie and Terri are talking to the patient*

Kylie: *Terri is signing for her* Everything seems fine, sister Sullivan will give you your pre med in a little while.

Luke: Professor Beatie this is Dr. Preist.

Kylie: Ill se you in theatre Professor Beatie. *walks out of room*

Luke: Excuse me, *follows Kylie out of room into the Front desk area.* Kylie what was that?

Kylie: What was what?

Luke: Professor Beatie you just blew her off!

Kylie: I did not. *Matt and Jared are watching this conversation with interest* She is busy so am I!

Matt: Luke youre wanted in ward 8.

Jared: *standing in doorway of the drug room, Kylie is inside* Did you fail the suck up test?

Kylie: Yeah apparently.

Jared: Are you free for lunch?

Kylie: Probably not, sorry. *walks off*

Matt: *Terrri walks out of room* Terri, emergency called theyre sending up a new patient.

Terri: Right, Von can you take that one.

Von: Yep.

Matt: Eric Lester.

Bron: Can I ask you something privately Terri?

Terri: Sure.

[Terris office.]

Terri: Okay, There you go nine weeks leave owing to you as of next week.

Bron: Right

Terri: And when it hits 10 weeks you will be forced to take it but that should be a good time for you.

Bron: For what?

Terri: For your honeymoon, honey.

Bron: Oh yeah right.

Terri: And then I want you to come back and be my slave again!

Bron: Well actually I dont really want to wait till my honeymoon.

Terri: Oh, do you want to take a few weeks off now to organize things?

Bron: Well sort of, I just think I want a few more weeks than that.

Terri: Is everything ok?

Bron: Yep. Just working a few things out thats all.

Terri: *laughs* ok.

[Ice skating rink, Ben and Scott are walking around the edge.]

Scott: Mate if I forked out for an expensive ring like that

Ben: Hey, it wasnt her fault! I just dont want this engagement thing to go on forever I want to set a date

Scott: Oh youve really got it bad!

Ben: Mate, Ive got it good!

Scott: So how much did the ring set you back? *Ben doesnt answer, they walk over to the patient who is sitting down.*

Ben: Excuse me, Hi, my names Ben and this is Scott.

Renee: Renee, it really kills. *Ben lifts ice pack off girls wrist, underneath is red and a little swollen*

Ben: Bend your wrist for me. *she does and grimaces in pain.* Right well the swelling is not too bad, movements is ok, its probably just a sprain but you might want to get it x-rayed. *Scott is watching a pair skate on the ice, Ben turns to him.* Ill get a bandage then.

Scott: Hey, shes really good.

Man next to Renee: Cindy Grey, future Olympian. They make it look easy dont they? *Scott nods still watching the couple twirl around on the ice, her partner Marcus lifts up Cindy, suddenly she falls and skids along the ice. She is holding her knee, Scott and Ben walk along the ice.*

Ben: Stand back please! Now lets put a blanket under her. Lift her up, easy, okay. *A blanket is now under Cindy* Mate were going to need a splint. *Scott walks out to get one, Ben cuts off Cindys leggings, revealing an extremely bruised knee.*

Marcus: Cindy?

[Room in the hospital, Paula, and another Doctor, Mrs Cartman (Roses mother) is on a walking type machine.]

Victoria: I hadnt expected to take up jogging.

Paula: Just walking.

Doctor: Just go with the machine, if you experience any discomfort I want you to stop immediately.

Victoria: So much fuss, I could understand Mitch worrying. Do you have children?

Paula: A son hes six.

Victoria: Such a joy at that age. Of course Rose would love to spend more time with Lucy but with such a busy job. *beginning to look rather red and puffed now.* Do you know Rose, she used to work here?

Paula: No, no we havent met Ive only been here for a couple of months.

Victoria: Oh you must have arrived after she left. Its a pity she cant spend more time with Mitch. But with the new job they just offered her so much that she couldnt refuse.

Paula: Lucky her.

Doctor: Any tiredness.

Victoria: For heavens sake, Im fi*she falls forward, both Paula and Doctor grab her quickly*

Paula: Victoria, Victoria. Try and take some deep breaths, relax, youll be fine.

[New patient is being wheeled in to ward 17]

Nurse: Eric Lester, admitted last night, CVA with resulting right heomoparisis. Um, hes been okay.

Von: Hi Eric, Im Von and Im going to be nursing you today.

Eric: I know you.

Von: Oki doke.

Terri: Can you page Luke for me please?

Matt: I think hes with Professor Beatie.

[Erics room, Mitch is testing his reflexes, Von walks in.]

Eric: I need a stiff drink.

Mitch: Eric, youve had a stroke, its only mild but unless you want to bring on another one.

Eric: I cant feel.

Mitch: Well drinking isnt going to help that!

Von: Eric is an artist.

Eric: A painter. Hand dead.

Mitch: Well its only early yet.

Eric: Cant paint might as well be all dead.

Mitch: Well the chances are with the appropriate rest, rehabilitation and maybe lifestyle adjustments, diet, the paralysis could resolve itself completely. Well continue with antibiotics. Ill start you on an anti hypertensive drug to lower the blood pressure and daily doses of aspirin.

Eric: Aspirin?

Mitch: It thins the blood and prevents clotting in the brain. Two hourly obs and try and get some rest alright?

Von: So is there anything I can get for you?

Eric: Yes, that *points to a panting hanging on the wall.* out!

Von: The painting?

Eric: The monstrosity.

Von: I think its bolted to the wall. Why dont I see what I can do.

[Von inside storage room with Terri.]

Von: Hello.

Terri: Hello, oh I havent had a chance to ask you how your assignment went?

Von: Oh not bad, did alright. High distinction.

Terri: Youre too modest.

Von: Ah well, I had a bit of help from a friend.

Terri: And whats the story with Eric Lester.

Von: Oh I know him.

Terri: How well?

Von: Well he gave a lecture and I was there when he collapsed.

Terri: Oh okay, an artist lecturing nurses?

Von: Yes and Im doing an art appreciation course.

Terri: OhLester is he famous?

Von: Used to be.

Terri: Right so a degree in art lectures what bought this on?

Von: The lupus is in remission. Strike one for menopause yay! Look I only found out last week and I havent told you because I still dont believe it. Do you think I should swap with Eric?

Terri: No thats not necessary.

Von: Yeah but come on Nelson is on his high horse with Mitch.

Terri: Well you know nursing a acquaintance is not the same as nursing a relative and you can leave Nelson to me.

Von: Pleasure.

[Victoria room, Luke and Paula are there.]

Victoria: I dont understand how the results can be inconclusive surely the best time to have an attack would be when Im wired up to an ECG.

Luke: Thats true but a mild attack in a cardio endurance session doesnt necessarily indicate any underlying condition.

Victoria: Well I wish you would make up your minds.

Paula: 140 on 70.

Luke: Right I would like to keep you overnight for observation *pager beeps* Paula can you let Matt know Ive been called off to emergency.

Victoria: This thing is awfully uncomfortable.

Paula: Would you prefer the mask?

Victoria: No.

Paula: Right so you stay put and Ill be back as soon as possible.

[Heather Roberts bed, Terri is signing to her. Nelson is standing next to the bed.]

Terri: See you later. *walks out towards exit.

Victoria: Excuse me!

Terri: Yes.

Victoria: Terri isnt it. Terri Sullivan?

Terri: Thats right.

Victoria: Weve never met properly.

Terri: Can I get you something?

Victoria: Your younger than I thought, prettier. You could have had your pick of the doctors, why choose a married one? *Terri walks out.*

[Emergency ward, Luke is in one of the curtained sections, he slowly takes off the brace on his arm and leaves it off. He walk to the next section.]

Luke: Cindy, Luke Forlano.

Cindy: Did they tell you Im on the Olympic training squad?

Luke: No, which sport?

Cindy: Ice skater. Did you get on to Dr. Evans?

Nurse: No hes in Melbourne at a conference. *looks at Luke as he holds up x-ray* Hes a orthopedic surgeon.

Luke: Has she had a sedative. *nurse nods*

Cindy: If anything major needs doing I want Dr. Evans to do it! Weve got nationals next month.

Luke: Cindy the x rays indicates that you have a greenstick fracture to your tibia and your knee cap is dislocated.

Cindy: I want Dr. Evans.

Luke: If we cant manipulate your knee back into place you risk permanent disability.

Cindy: Alright, but please be careful.

Luke: Alright. *puts a needle into her knee* Feel that? *Cindy shakes her head.* Good, that means the anesthetic has taken effect. Ready? *she nods, he pulls the knee cap back into place.*

Marcus: *walks in* Cindy! Whats happening?

Luke: Who are you?

Marcus: Im her partner. Is she ok? Is she going to be able to skate again?

Luke: Well we certainly hope so. Were going to be sending her for a MRI.

Marcus: Ok, thanks.*he goes towards her but the nurse tells him hes going to have to wait outside.*

[Corridors outside Emergency, where Ben and Scott are wheeling a bed.]

Bron: *walking down corridor.* Hi.

Ben: Hey!

Scott: See you outside.

Ben: Right. *scott walks off with Bed* So tonight, still on?

Bron: I dont know.

Ben: What you got a better offer?

Bron: Can we talk about this later?

Ben: No, lets talk about it now! *Bron doesnt say anything* Well see youve got me worrying and I dont want to spend the rest of the day worrying so

Bron: I think wellI might take some time off.

Ben: Well, good.

Bron: To travel maybe.

Ben: Travel?

Bron: Mmm.

Ben: Where?

Bron: I dont know where yet thats why I wanted to talk about it later.

Ben: Why you mean us travel or just you?oh great were just about to get married then you want to go piss off!

Bron: Well this isnt about us this is about me, I still want to get married I just

Ben: Ok, cancel the restaurant! *storms off*

Bron: Ben!

[Terris office, Mitch is with her.]

Mitch: Come on Terri lighten up!

Terri: What do you want me to say? I mean, its so typical you cant do things by the book!

Mitch: Shes not well.

Terri: It generates problems.

Mitch: Lord Nelson.

Terri: And me, for me.

Mitch: She hasnt been that much trouble has she?

Terri: She thinks we are having an affair!

Mitch: I had all that out and explained everything.

Terri: Well she didnt believe you!

Mitch: Why did she say something?

Terri: Did you really think she wants to see you and rose split up? Youre the father of her grandchild and Im the other woman!

Mitch: Look, Im sorry. I didnt think she believed all of Roses lies.

Terri: Well I feel that I get all of the grief and none of the joy.

Mitch: Well thats going to change you know that.

Terri: Ive got a lot of work to do so

Mitch: And by the way youre the only woman. *leaves office*

[Eric Lesters room, Von is putting a blanket over the painting thats bolted to the wall.]

Von: Youre supposed to be resting!

Eric: Like art do you?

Von: Some.

Eric: Who?

Von: *walks over to his bed* Theres this Eric Lester bloke whos supposedly pretty good.

Eric: Hah.

Von: Oh dear your not a fan? Ill um let you in on a little secret. I knew him once in London, before he got famous.

Eric: Von RyanVon...Von Ryan I thought I knew that face! Von Ryan hey pity about the trousers.

Von: God you havent changed!

Eric: Yes I have look at me.

Von: Well you heard the doctor you can leave this.

Eric: Well Ill tell you a secret. I dont care, burnt down no talent.

Von: Garbage!

Eric: Well its true, the last big show I had was twenty years ago. Abstract expressionism is dead piece of history and the only way Ill be famous is if I die too.

Von: That why you drink?

Eric: Dont you start!

*Matt walks in with flowers*

Matt: These came from Mr. Lesters agent.

Eric: ah see the vultures are circling already.

Von: Theyre flowers Eric, thats what people do when youre sick. *Matt puts down flowers*

Eric: Hey young fellow, hows these...nice pair of pins. *Matt just stands there*

Von: Bye. *Matt grins and walks out closing the door behind him, Eric laughs*

[Front desk ward 17, Matt, Nelson and Paula and Jared are there.]

Matt: A good set of pins?

Paula: Legs Matt, pins are legs.

Matt: Oh I thought he meant like *motions to chest area J * oh

Nelson: She ought to report it.

Matt: I dont know Von probably likes the odd bit of*Von is standing nearby holding the flowers listening in hidden away from view.*

Paula: Matthew!

Matt: What she already knows him, maybe better than we think!

Jared: You reckon? I think hes a crock.

Luke: *leans into view to grab something* Shes a dark horse our Von.

Matt: All the better for riding I say. *Von walks past with the flower in a vase towards Erics room, everyone at desk is silent, Terri walks up.*

Terri: Whats going on? *All get back to work*

[Emergency nurse walks into ward wheeling bed which contains Cindy]

Nurse: *to Terri* Cindy Grey, 18 years old, greenstick fracture to the proximal and to the tibia and dislocated patella.

Terri: Ok, Bron.

Bron:  Yep, room 3 thanks.

*Front desk still, Luke is sitting down, Kylie grabs something from the desk*

Luke: Hasnt the op started?

Kylie: If it had Id be there wouldnt I? *walks off, and Mitch walks up to Luke*

Mitch: Hows Victoria?

Luke: *sitting at computer* Good yep, I just brought up her latest bloods.

Mitch: All looks pretty normal.

Luke: Yeah, Mitch can I have a word? *stands up and walks a little away from the desk* Im thinking maybe its anxiety attacks. Got a lot to deal with Rose.

Mitch: Victoria is one of the most level headed woman that I know.

Luke: Shes dealing with Lucy.

Mitch: That I can understand.

Luke: Look its a delicate matter for me, do you want to have a word with her?

Mitch: I better not, *looks towards Terri* Im in hot water as it is with the boss you know. *Bron walks up*

Bron: Luke can you have a look at Cindy shes in a bit of pain.

Luke: Okay, walks up to desk. Matt do you have the MRI for Cindy*Matt hands it to him* Thank you.

Mitch: *to Terri* It was a joke.

[Cindys room, Luke is looking at her knee.]

Luke: The swelling indicates a build up of fluid possibly a hematoma. Looking at your MRIs Id say youve sustained some serious ligament damage.

Cindy: You said this wouldnt happen!

Luke: No I said that early treatment was your best option.

Cindy: Well now what.

Luke: Well well need to have a look inside well use an arthroscope and make three small incisions and drain the fluid.

Cindy: And then?

Luke: Repair the damage.

Cindy: Has Dr. Evans called from Melbourne yet?

Bron: No.

Cindy: Cant we wait till tomorrow?

Luke: Well that damage will only get worse it could become irreversible, you need to have the operation as soon as possible.

Cindy: Whos the surgeon?

Luke: Dr. Carmicheal hes an orthopedic specialist.

Cindy: Is he accredited with the Institute of sport?

Luke: I dont know I can check.

Cindy: Okay.

Luke: So Ill book a theatre then

Cindy: Alright, but I want to be under a local, I want to be awake and I want to know whats going on.

Luke: Ill make sure they know *walks off with Bron* Glad Im not doing it.

*Cindys partner walks up to Bron.*

Marcus: Can I go in now?

Bron: Cindy youve got a visitor. Buzzer is just there if you need me. Okay.

[Front desk. Buzzer sounds, Von pops out of Erics room.]

Von: We need help here!

[Mitch, Nelson, Terri and Von are in Erics room now.]

Von: BPs 150 over 80 pulse is down pulse is 100.

Mitch: Okay, adrenalin .2.

Terri: Okay .2

Von: *Eric throws up* Its alright

Mitch: Cortisone 100 milligrams

Terri: Yep, Cortisone100 milligrams *hands Mitch the syringe*

Von: Okay BP is 130 on 80. Pulse is 120, Terri grab the towel please!

Mitch: Okay hes probably having an allergic reaction to the antibiotics lets change him to Flagil.

Von: Its alright mate its not another stroke, its under control your going to be alright.*Terri takes the towel off the painting*

[Cindy is in the operation now.]

Cindy: *to Kylie* Whats that?

Kylie: Its a sedative thats all.

Cindy: I told you I want to stay awake!

Kylie: It will just relax you, try not to move during the procedure.

Cindy: I want know whats happening, what they are doing.

Kylie: well be talking you through it step by step I promise.

Cindy: If anything goes wrong!

Kylie: You can stop the procedure at any time its your decision.

Cindy: He dropped me.

[Cindys room. Her partner is talking to Bron who is making her bed.]

Marcus: Skating has been our whole lives. Weve been skating together since we were little kids you know. I was 8 and Cindy was 6.

Bron: No wonder youre so close.

Marcus: Yeah. A lot of people think were married. Though we might as well be since I dont have much of a social life.

Bron: Yeah that must be tough.

Marcus: I copped so much crap when I growing up. Always hanging round with my little sister and poncing around in leotards and sequins

Bron: Worth it though isnt it, next Olympics?

Marcus: Maybe.

Bron: Maybe what about going for gold!

Marcus: Well shes the star you know Im just, without her I wouldnt even be in the squad let along in the running for the games.

Bron: Well youre a team, like the Woodies in the Davis cup. Its what you do together that counts.

Marcus: Done that move a thousand times!

[In the operating theatre theyre just starting cindys op]

Kylie: Theyre almost finished draining the fluid Cindy, Cindy are you still with us?

Cindy: Mmmm

Nurse or doctor: Shes an athlete, probably has a low drug tolerance.

Kylie: Well shes hemodynamically stable.

Dr: Not looking good, I need to get in there.

Kylie: Cindy the surgeon is ready to start the repair of your ligaments, are you happy for him to proceed.

Cindy: Mmmm

Nurse or doctor: We must take that as a yes Cindy.  *the surgeon starts the procedure.*

[Victoria is having something to eat. Luke walks up to her.]

Luke: Do you mind if I have a seat? *Victoria doesnt object* Now Victoria its clear that these attacks that youve been experiencing, the elevated blood pressure the shortness of breath and the chest pains are very real. But we think you may be experiencing anxiety attacks. *Victoria drinks some tea* Which as I say are very real and treatable.

Victoria: So you are saying that this is all in my head?

Luke: Taking in to consideration of everything that you have been dealing with, looking after a young child, coping with roses mental illness

Victoria: Now stop right there, if anyone is panicking its my son in law!

Luke: Victoria Im not trying to make any judgments I just want to get to the cause of your stress.

Victoria: My family is none of your business and until this morning and until I was drag.

Luke: VictoriaPaula! Stay back try and breatheher BPs 130 over 80, Victoria, your pain on a scale of one to ten? *Victoria indicates 4* Okay get the GT and N spray.

Paula: Okay Victoria this will lessen the pain, *holds spray near mouth* Open up. *sprays it*

Victoria: I want to be discharged I want to go home. *puts mask on her*

[Mitch and Luke are walking in corridor outside]

Mitch: You cant just send her home.

Luke: Mitch she doesnt want to talk I cant force her!

Mitch: What if something happens to her.

Luke: What are you saying that Id be responsible? You shouldnt have brought her here. *at front desk now*

Mitch: Well if I didnt bring her here she would have never seen a doctor, she refuses to give in to these things. Thinks its a sign of weakness.

Luke: Well by bringing her here youve become part of the problem, she thinks were ganging up on her. Look all I can do is prescribe her some dizapan give her some literature, if she wants to be discharged I cant stop her.

Matt: *to Mitch* Mr. Lorax room 6. *hands him file, Luke walks into storage room and bangs him sore hand on the cabinet and yells in pain*

Kylie: What happened let me see?

Luke: No its just a bump. *grabs arm and looks at it*

Kylie: Its driving you crazy isnt it?

Luke: Its killing me not being able to operate.

Kylie: So youre channeling your frustrations through me.

Luke: Maybe, but what are you doing Kylie, youre missing opportunities.

Kylie: Im doing my job.

Luke: Thats it your doing your job, and nothing more you should be out there hassling surgeons, asking questions making your own opportunities.

Kylie: Are you saying that theres a problem with my work?

Luke: Technically I cant fault you.

Kylie: But

Luke: Wheres your drive Kylie its more than a job Kylie and you know it, so whats going on? *Screen shot of Jared dialing in a number on the phone, Kylie walks off*

[Lesters room. Von is with him.]

Eric: So only one good hand each? *Von still has a cast on her left arm* We should get together?

Von: Ah no, you just keep your one good hand to yourself.

Eric: So no more sex.

Von: Oh Ive had more stroke patients much worse than you mate and complete recoveries. Your speech is improving already.

Eric: Oh lucky them.

Von: So tell me what did happen to Eric Lester? Hey that passionate young man and dont give me the garb about abstract expressionalism being dead, others from that time have moved on changed directions.

Eric: Had to hungry for success!

Von: Mm and you?

Eric: Got there young, to much money no more challenge.

Von: Well youve got a challenge now mate because if you keep going like you have been pretty soon its going to be all over red rover.

Eric: too late

Von: Oh so you think youre the only one who has a spot like this, well you dont give in to it, right you get off your bum and you change things.

Eric: Easy for you, people need you.

Von: Oh alright if you think youve finished with painting why dont you just use your imagination hey, reinvent yourself be something else.

Eric: *mumbles* Teaching.

Von: Sorry what was that?

Eric: University asked me to teach.

Von: Mmm and

Eric: Those that can those that cant

Von: Teach, so what it was beneath you? I used to sit in the clump in London and I thought that you lot were the most talented and exciting people Ive ever known.

Eric: you silly clown.

Von: Oh yeah well I was probably a silly little girl back then but I picked up a few things on the way. And I think Im doing something pretty useful not great art but right now I know whose shoes Id rather be in.

Eric: Stroke.

Von: *leans in and raises her voice* Bugger the stroke mate! Listen you were paralyzed before the stroke so otherwise you get up and do something with your life or youre gone.

Matt: *walks in* Umm*cant here what he says afterwards*

Von: Yep, righto. Ill be back. *outside Lesters room.*

Matt: Mrs Lester shes over there. Erics wife she wants to see him and I thought Id better warn you.

Von: Im von Ive been looking after your husband.

Mrs Lester: Im sorry it took me this long to get here, I was in the country and I came as soon as I could. Now can I see him?

Matt: *to Paula* If I could fly there

Paula: You must be really bored Matt.

Matt: Ahuh.

*Terri walks past and Paula talks to her*

Paula: Can I just clarify something with you, is Mitchs wife working in a psyche hospital or she actually a patient in a psyche hospital?

Terri: Why do you want to know?

Paula: Well if she is a patient then Mrs Cartman lied to me about it and maybe if shes suppressing things that might explain the anxiety attacks.

Terri: Thanks for that.

[Inside Cindys room, Luke, Bron and her partner are all there.]

Cindy: You promised me Id be awake for the whole time. That Id be the one making the decisions.

Luke: You werent unconscious you became drowsy and unable to communicate.

Cindy: And

Luke: Well there was substantial tethering to the anterior crucial ligament. If we hadnt of operated it could have snapped and that would have lead to a total knee reconstruction it could have been a lot worse but thanks to a new technique asial tightening the recovery time is significantly accelerated.

Marcus: You realize what this is going to do to our training program?

Cindy: How long till I can get back on the ice?

Luke: Could be a few months.

Cindy: A few months or not at all right?

Luke: Im sorry.

[Mitch knocks on the open door of Terris office.]

Terri: Um, Paula has some ideas about what might be causing Victorias attacks?

Mitch: I thought you wanted me to back off?

Terri: When was the last time Victoria visited rose in hospital?

Mitch: Well she hasnt, Roses doctor said that Rose didnt want to see her.

Terri: Who told you that?

[Mitch walks into Victorias room, Victoria is sitting in a wheel chair ready to leave.]

Mitch: I just came to say good bye.

Victoria: Is my taxi here?

Mitch: Not yet no, Victoria why havent you been to see Rose?

Rose: Well you know that her doctor advised against it.

Mitch: Well Ive been speaking to her psychiatrist and he seems to think a visit from you would do the power of good.

Victoria: Mitch under doctors orders Ive been doing my best to stay calm!

Mitch: I think it would be food for you too.

Victoria: I thought you came to say goodbye.

Mitch: What Rose is suffering from is not your fault its no ones fault its a mental illness its nothing to be ashamed of.

Victoria: We can make arrangements for Lucy tomorrow you can call me.

Mitch: Okay.

[Cindys room, her brother is not there.]

Cindy: Me and Marcus missed out selection for the salt lake games by one place, one place.

Bron: Theres always the next games.

Cindy: Its over.

Bron: But your only 18!

Cindy: But Marcus

Bron: Oh youll make up.

Cindy: A couple of weeks ago this Canadian coach saw me and Marcus skating he offered me a scholarship, reckons I could make the top, on my own.

Bron: Have you talked to Marcus about it?

Cindy: Not yet, when you are as close as we are you cant keep secrets he knows we just not in sync anymore and without me he wont make the team, he isnt good enough. I cant say it to him, Im going solo, I cant do it.

Bron: Well you got a do whats right for you even if it hurts him cause if you dont you are going to end up resenting him.

Cindy: I know.

Bron: And if he loves you hell want you to do it...hes your brother.

[Front desk area.]

Jared: *to Kylie* Hey busy day?

Kylie: *washing hands* Yeah.

Jared: Listen I promised Bron Id be out of the house tonight so I thought I could go over to your place, unwind a bit, rearrange the furniture.

Kylie: I dont think so, not tonight.

Jared: Come on.

Kylie: You just want to come over cause its convenient for Bron.

Jared: Thats not what I was saying you are twisting my words!

Kylie: Look Im to tired and crabby havent you noticed Im just sick of myself at the moment! *walks off*

Jared: Hey Kylie where you going? *follows Kylie, shes at the lift* can we talk about this?

Kylie: Fine come over alright?

Jared: No its not alright, is that the kind of invitation youd want to accept?

Kylie: Jared Im stressed okay Im busy I have twenty different things to think about.

Jared: Twenty things more important than me.

Kylie: What do you want me to say Jared?

Jared: I love you I havent heard that in awhile. I like you would be an improvement on what weve got. Thought so.

Kylie: This isnt the place.

Jared: For a bust up a good as place as any, look we both know its been coming

Kylie: Jared

Jared: You havent lost you passion for work Kylie you are just unhappy, go be happy *walks back into Ward 17*

[Eric Lesters room, Von is with him.]

Eric: Given her a hard time!

Von: Well she probably know what she was going in for, never been easy have you?

Eric: I could try.

Von: Good idea.

Eric: Run around lots of woman hundreds!

Von: Alright dont brag!

Eric: You in London. *starts laughing*

You wouldnt have remembered *starts to have some sort of attack*

Von: Ah no dont do this!

[Erics room, Mitch, Terri, Nelson and Von.]

Terri: Pulse 140, BP 180 on 60. A sisterlink no output.

Mitch: Ok, Nelson *Nelson starts chest compression* more adrenalin. *Nelson counts* any now Terri?

Terri: Ok we have an output. *lift mask* BP rising 100 on 80 pulse 100?

[Wheeling Eric out.]

Mitch: *to wife* Hes being transferred to high dependency unit.

Mrs Lester: And theyll be doing the scans?

Mitch: Theyll tell us how much damage has been done and to which part of the brain.

Terri: No offence but once hes been stabilized can I have him transferred to a private hospital?

Mitch: Of course, please excuse me.

Mrs Lester: But he was doing so well.

Mitch: Well a stroke victims recovery depends more than anything on how much they want it and how much theyre willing to fight so he could surprise you.

Mrs Lester: Thank you.

*front desk*

Jared: Terri Ive finished writing up all my notes so if its ok with you? *motions towards the door*

Terri: Sure. *Jared leaves, Terri walks towards her office*

Mitch: Im off as well. Look Im really sorry about today I was just worried about Lucy.

Terri: Yeah.

Matt: Hey Von. Im sorry about your friend.

Von: If no one on this ward cares enough about their dignity to leave their private lives at home I couldnt give a toss. But if you ever insult mine Ill have your balls for earrings, that clear?

Matt: Yeah *Von smiles*

[Cindys room, she is watching a video of ice skaters.]

Marcus: Hi.

Cindy: Hi.

Marcus: I didnt miss the catch on purpose why wont you look at me? *Bron is watching this conversation*

Cindy: Dont be stupid!

Marcus: You havent looked at me all day now once, you blame me for what happened like you think I did it on purpose to stop you from pissing off and going solo. Yes I know.

Cindy: It was an accident.

Marcus: And what, look at me.

Cindy: Im afraid.

Marcus: Why?

Cindy: Because if you are even a little bit glad it happened Ill see it in your eyes and I dont want to.

Marcus: Cindy I would never want to hold you back, youve been holding yourself back because you didnt have the guts to be honest. *they hold hands*

[Ben and Scott walking out of the hospital]

Ben: You know what Zineko youre a wanker! *Scott puts on sunglasses*

Scott: *points a Ben* Dont you forget it! *Bron walks down steps and Ben waits for her.*

Bron: Want to give me a ride? You know in a healthy relationship

Ben: Oh here we go more strike over.

Bron: Theres you and me and there is

Ben: Email?

Bron: Ben I wasnt planning this it just come up, and it feels right.

Ben: Then why cant we travel together?

Bron: Because I dont want to ruin everything!

Ben: Then what do you call this?

Bron: I think this is me trying to do the write thing for the first time.

Bron: I just want to be by myself for awhile, do some stuff see some stuff then I want to come back and I want  to marry this fantastic guy so if we are going to do this I dont want to be in a church saying my vows and feeling like Im not ready. I want to mean what I say!

Ben: *Sigh* Will you write me lots of long steamy love letters? And make long naked phone calls to me?

Bron: Sure.

Ben: Come back in one piece?

Bron: Ill try.

Ben: *puts her hand on his face * I better give you this then *opens ring box* Try not to lose it this time! *Puts ring on her finger and kisses itthen Bron kisses Ben and they embrace!*

[Mitchs car drives up, Victoria is sitting on a bench, he gets out with flowers, he is going to visit Rose. He sees Victoria and she looks at him. He sits down with her.]

Victoria: Do you know how many times I have got this far then turned around and gone home? I know I shouldnt be ashamed but I didnt really believe it I just told myself Rose was emotional not sick. They say it could be hereditary but theres never been anyone in my family thats had itthat I know of.

[See Rose sitting down on a chair reading a magazine on the porch. Mitch and Victoria walk up the steps. They see Rose, and Victoria walks towards her. She puts down her bag and hugs Rose. Mitch watches for awhile, gently sets the flowers down on the steps and walks off.]
