Von Takes the Plunge

It’s Von Ryan top the rescue this week in All Saints , when she careers down the side of a cliff to save the life of a teenager.

It’s the start of a strong, new storyline for the character that will run over many weeks, and one Judith McGrath has longer for.

“Its a relief to get a meaty role for Von,” Judith says, “She’s been a background character for a while. Von has a storyline a while ago with a boy who died of cancer. That was contained by the 2 of us and worked well. This time, she’s with another young boy, but it’s a teenage problem.”

Viewers learn that Von has been working with kids from dysfunctional families in her spare time, and the boy is one of them.

“Thats (Von’s weekend work) was a suprise to me, but it works,” Judith says.

“It’s also good that, after all this time, there are still places for this character to go. We don’t really know much about her.”
