Chapter Six:
"Kevin, what the hell were you thinking, acting like that around my cousin?" A.J. half-asked, half-screamed at his bandmate and best friend.

"What do you mean?" replied Kevin, obviously in his own Ali-World.

"Treating her like that!" A.J. ranted, his voice raising with every word.

Kevin went immediatly into defense mode.  "Treating her like what?  Like she's a beautiful woman?  Like she's incredibly attractive?  Like I want to flirt with her?  A.J., she was absolutely right, you're treating her like she's still fourteen.  She grew up, face it."

"Maybe I don't want to," A.J. muttered, acting very much like Nick when he was in a whiney state.

"You have to.  She's beautiful.  She grew up, A.J.  She's not the little kid I met when I was twenty-one."

"What about Kristin?  Weren't you still not over her yet?"

I think I may be, Kevin thought.  The second I saw Ali, I got over Kristin.

"Ali, what the hell were you thinking, acting like that around Kevin?" Jamie asked impatiently.

"Jamie, you know I still love him.  I have, ever since I met him.  I never stopped loving him, even through Kristin.  James, I actually may have a chance with him."

"Of course you have a chance with him," Hallie remarked.  "He was all over you today.  Oh, by the way, I was wondering why he looked at you so strangely when he kicked the table in the mall before."

Ali blushed.  "It's nothing," she started to say, but stopped herself when Jamie and Hallie crossed their arms at the same time, waiting for the truth to come out of their friend's mouth.

But Ali was saved by Cathy, coming home from being with Wes.  "Hey, guys, what's up?"  Cathy took one look at Hallie and Jamie, and at Ali sitting on the couch with a Help Me look on her face, and said, "What'd she do now?"

Jamie said, "That's what I'd like to know.  Ali, what have you been up to?"

"I was playing footsie with Kevin when he kicked the table.  He got a little too into it, and he accidently kicked the table.  That's why he looked at me like that, Hal, and that's why I think I may actually have a chance with him, okay?"

Ali looked up at her friends, who were standing before her, their hands at their sides, their mouths hanging open.  "Guys, say something, ANYTHING, just STOP looking at me like that, you're freaking me out majorly!"

"What time are the guys gonna pick us up to go clubbing?" Hallie asked Jamie.

"Seven-thirty."

"I'm calling Howie."

"Why?" Ali asked, in a panic.

"Because."  She grabbed the phone, dialed Howie's cell number, and said into the phone after a few seconds, "How, hi...  Actually a lot...  I was wondering if Kevin would wanna come with you and Brian tonight...  Okay...  Tell him Ali's coming...  (Ali's eyes widen to three times their normal size and she starts shakign her head no and wildly motioning with her arms)  Great...  Eight-thirty...  Okay, see you then...  Bye...  Love you too."  At that, she hung up the phone.

"I am not going ANYWHERE tonight!"

"Yes, you are.  And you're gonna go there with Kevin.  Whether you like it or not.  And you're wearing that new outfit you bought today, whether you like it or not.  Now deal with it!" Hallie said, getting in the final word, as usual.  Ali couldn't protest, so she just sat there, wondering what she should do.

"Okay, Hal, let's do the makeup."

"Huh?" Ali said, wondering what she meant.

"You'll see," Jamie, Cathy and Hallie said in unison.

"Oh no," Ali said as her three best friends took it upon themselves to make up Ali as they deemed necessary.
