Chapter Forty-Four:
Author's Note:
I KNOW that this has basically NOTHING to do with the story, but it was getting boring.  And I had to spice it up a bit, and this was the only way I could think of.  It skips a bit in the future, like a month.  In general, nothing really happens during that month, other then Cathy avoids AJ, Lily constantly hides her laptop from Nick, Kevin keeps calling and bothering Ali (Justin doesn't know about this), and Hallie and Brian get back together.  I just wanted to skip a bit in the story, it was getting kinda boring, as I said earlier.  Thanx for reading my story!
Much Luv,
Ali
Ali, Lily, Cathy, Hallie and Jamie walked into the bar, each wearing sunglasses.  They walked quietly to a back booth, where they ordered their perspective drinks.  They sat in silence for a few minutes, before Cathy spoke up.

"Boys suck."

Ali raised her Strawberry Daqueri.  "Amen to that," she said, taking a sip through the straw and swishing it around her mouth, letting the alcohol set in.

"Why would you say that?" Jamie asked Ali, picking up her Pina Colada.

"Because they DO suck.  Honestly, I've had all of, what, three boyfriends in my life?  I got engaged to Kevin, only to find out that he's screwing his ex when I'm away from him.  Before him was Tim, and, well, I care not to discuss that, thankyouverymuch.  And now Justin...  At times, I swear, he is NOT human."

"I'll second that notion," Jamie muttered.  "He ISN'T human, I have NO idea why you're dating him."

"Would you like me to bitch slap you now or later?"

"Can we NOT fight about 'N Sync now?  Grr...  Let's just drown our problems with alcohol," Cathy said, taking a sip of her Pina Colada.

"I thought you didn't drink," Hallie pointed out.

"I don't.  Not usually.  But NOW I do," Cathy said.

"You know what?  I wish we could create the perfect man, that would just solve all of our problems," Jamie muttered, staring at her drink.

"Perfect man?" Cathy asked.  "Those don't exist.  Look at my dating record: Wes Boreland, Rob Thomas, who was cheating on his wife with me, which made me the Other Woman, Nick..."

"What's wrong with Nick?" Lily asked, getting defensive.

"Nothing's wrong with Nick...  he's just...  I've known him FOREVER and that doesn't help when you're dating."

"Good point."

"But there really is no such thing as a Perfect Man, now that I really think about it."  Ali paused to take a drink.  "If there was a Perfect Man, he would have...  Justin's eyes...  JC's voice and...  ooh, remember AJ, the DJ from HOT 97?"

Hallie smiled and shook her head.  "Yeah, I remember...  You had the biggest crush on him, didn't you?"

"Yeah, I did, and I think I still have the picture of us together at that one concert...  the one at the Kirby Center...  I know it's in here somewhere," she muttered, searching her purse.

"What does he have to do with anything?" Jamie asked.

"Here it is!  Ther Perfect Man would have HIS butt," she said with a smile, handing over the
picture.

"Oooh, and his smile," Lily said, her eyes lighting up.  "He's so cute.  Damn, if I wasn't with Nicky...  Wait a minute, how old were you both in this picture?"

"I was like, seventeen, and he was twenty, I think...
(A.N.: SO WHAT IF I'M CHANGING AGES?!?) Do I have to tell Nicky something?" Ali asked with a sly smile.

"NO!"

The five girls laughed.  "You know what I think?" Hallie asked.  She got a chorus of "What's?"  "This is the way it should always be, just the five of us.  Talking and gossiping about guys like we always did at the mall.  Well, adding you Lil," Hallie said with a smile.

"Yeah, I missed this," Ali said.  "I mean, me and Hall have been away from you guys too long.  You know what I think?  We should take a vacation, away from everyone, just the five of us.  For like, a friggin month to get away from everything, in say...  Hawaii."

"That is SUCH a good idea," Cathy said.  "Only I think we should take more than a month.  I say we take, like, a year to get away from all the media attention.  Those damn tabloids have been following us around lately."

"That's true, if ONE MORE PERSON asks about the Kevin-Justin Thing, I swear I am gonna rip out my hair," Ali muttered.

"So a year it is?  We take an entire year away from our family and our boyfriends and just spend it together in Hawaii.  Or some other tropical place where no one'll find us, like..."  Hallie paused, waiting for any ideas.

"Jamaca?"

"Cozumel?"

"Virgin Islands?"

Ali smiled.  "How about Ocean City, Maryland?"  She looked at her friends.  "That way we can party like it's 1999 during the summer and there's so many tourists there, no one would even recognize us.  My family has a condo there, remember we went that one week when we were twelve, Jam?  We can stay in that, all I have to do is make sure that no one rented it out yet.  Money really isn't a problem, I think we realize that.  We all have enough to live for a year without even scratching the surface of our bank accounts.  And if we drive each other crazy, we can always stay in a hotel or something."

"So Ocean City it is, agreed?"

"Agreed," everyone said in unison.
