Chapter Three:
Ali nearly had a heart attack when she saw Kevin coming closer to her.  What is he doing? she thought to herself as he walked toward her.

"You have a string here," Kevin said, pulling a string from out of her hair.

"Oh, thanks," Ali gushed, slightly too excited.
Great, now he probably thinks I'm some kind of ditz.

"No problem."

"I should change, I'll umm, be right back," she said, heading into the dressing room.

"I'll wait for you.  I'm supposed to meet the rest of the guys in the food court soon, anyway.  Have you seen A.J yet?"

You bet your sweet muscles I've seen my cousin, Ali thought.  "Yep."  He was the one who told me you were here, Alex, I love you cuz.

Ali walked out of the dressing room holding her outfit.  "Yeah, I saw Alex.  Annoying, as usual.  He said that he was supposed to meet you guys in the food court, I'm assuming by McDonalds."

"Yeah, you know A.J."

"I do take after my cousin, unfortunatly.  Right now, I have an overwhelming craving for chicken nuggets."

Ali and Kevin headed to the food court, only to bump into Hallie.  "Hey, Hall, whats up?"

"Where's your cousin?" Hallie asked Kevin excitedly, totally ignoring her friend.

Kevin looked at Ali, as if to ask, 'Do you know this person and is she safe?'  Ali replied, "She's okay, she's my friend and roommate.  A little crazy over Brian, but I guess she's sane."

Hallie was impatiently awaiting Kevin's reply, so she didn't hear or realize what Ali had said about her.  "So?  Where is he?"

Kevin looked around, and spotting him, said, "He's in line for Grotto.  If you hurry, you can get behind him before that girl does."  Hallie was already sprinting toward Grotto Pizza, so she didn't hear Kevin's last sentence.  Not like she wanted to, anyway.  She had her sights set on Brian.

"I take it she likes my cousin."

"The word 'likes' is an understatement.  In fact, I think that may be the understatement of the year.  She's totally in love with Brian."

"She is aware that Brian has Leighanne, right?"

"Yeah, she's aware.  I keep trying to remind her, but it doesn't work very well.  I guess she just doesn't care," Ali said, taking her place in line behind Nick.

She didn't realize he was Nick at first, he grew since the last time she saw him.  But Nick heard Kevin talking, turned around, and said, "Hey, Kev, who'd you find?"

"You don't remember Ali?"

Nick took a double take as he looked at her.
Wow, she grew up, he thought as he stared.  "Ali?  Omigod, it is you.  I haven't seen you in so long!" Nick enthused, as he hugged her.

"Yeah, six years is a long time.  Didn't I tell you not to grow?"

Nick grinned as he said, "Did I ever listen to you?"

"Come to think of it, you didn't, mean."

"Exactly.  Why should I start now?"

"Carter, I could kick your butt when I was fourteen, and I can do it now, if I have to."

"A cute girl like you shouldn't have to kick anybody's butt."

Ali blushed at Nick's comment, but didn't notice Kevin glaring at Nick from behind her.
