Chapter Fourteen:
"Do you live here now or something?" Ali asked Nick as she was trying to make herself breakfast a week and a half later.  "I mean, since you and Cath got together, I see more of you then I see of Alex."

"Well, I'm just waiting for Cathy to get herself out of bed.  And would you really mind if I lived here?" Nick said, smirking.

Ali pondered this for a moment, then turned back to her pancakes.  "Well, honestly, no, not really.  You're one of my best friends," Ali said.

And there's that word I hate so much again, Nick thought as he cringed at Ali's 'best friend' comment.  But he shrugged it off and was determind to get on Ali's romantic side, now that Kevin was in Cali, writing his heart out at this very moment.

*Ring*  Or so he thought.  "Nicky, watch these for me, will ya?  And don't eat any!"

"I won't, I won't," Nick said, while playfully shoving a piece of a half done pancake in his mouth.  "Ewww!  This isn't done!"

"That's why I told you not to eat any, dork."  She then said into the phone, "Hello?  Oh, hi, sweetie."

Nick rolled his eyes in disgust.  "Hi sweetie.  Yeah, I miss you too.  Oh, you're so sweet, I love you too.  I'm thinking of you too," he mocked quietly to himself as he was flipping a pancake.  "Why can't she be saying that to me?  It's just not fair, damnit, why didn't I ask her out when I had the chance, before Kev got to her?"

"Yeah, Nick better not be burning our breakfast," Ali said, walking into the kitchen with the cordless phone.  "No, he's a good boy, they're actually turning out pretty good.  Yes, he knows how to use a stove!"

Nick was taken aback by what was apparently Kevin's comment.  "Gimme that phone," Nick said, handing Ali the spatula and taking the phone off of her.  "Whaddya mean I don't know how to use a stove?"

"What the hell are you doing over there?" Kevin asked.

"Burning breakfast, waiting for Cathy to wake up, why?" he asked, putting on his best innocent voice.

"You know damn well why, I know you like her, so stay away from her."

At this point, Ali had put on her headphones, and was blurting out Christina Augilera's Genie In A Bottle.  The music was so loud that Nick could hear it over Kevin.  And Ali wasn't being any quieter.  "I'm a genie in a bottle baby, gotta rub me the right way honey, I'm a genie in a bottle baby, come, come, come on and let me out."  That wasn't all.  With her little song, she decided to do a mock-Christina dance.  Complete with hip shake, which made Nick Carter's mouth drop.

"Yo, Nick, what the hell is my girlfriend doing?"  Kevin's voice cut through Nick's fantasies.

"Oh, she's belting out Genie In A Bottle.  And she's doing the cutest little dance, too," Nick said, rubbing it in that Nick was with Ali and Kevin wasn't.

"Just stay away from her," Kevin said, through gritted teeth, furious at his bandmate.  "Look, I gotta go, but tell her I miss her, okay?"

"Yeah, willdo.  Bye."

"Bye."

~*~*~

Kevin hung up his cell phone, furious at Nick.
I swear, if he does anything to her, then I will kill him.
