Rabbit Masks
Materials:
Paper Plates
Pink or black paper (small quantity for the nose)
Cardboard
Cotton Wool (or another soft material)
Pipe Cleaners
Putting it Together
Cut two long, thin ovals for ears, and a small pink or black triangle for the nose. Cut out two oval eyes from the plates. Glue or staple the ears on and glue the cotton wool inside the ears for fluffy ears. Alternatively, you can glue cotton wool over the whole plate for a very fluffy rabbit. The pipe cleaners make the whiskers, or you can use string or wool. Presto - a rabbit mask!
Paper Plate Bunny
Materials:
large paper plate
small paper plate
glue
pink construction paper
cotton ball
crayons or markers
Using paper plates, glue small one to top of large one to form head and body. Cut out bunny ears from pink paper. Glue or staple to head. Draw eyes and nose on face of plate with crayons or markers. Glue a cotton ball on the back for a tail.
Easter Bunny Ears
Materials:
Construction paper (pink, white and/or brown)
Glue
Cut out bunny ears with the white and pink paper (pink should be slightly smaller) or use two tones of brown for a chocolate bunny. Glue the pink on white to make ears. (or brown). Make a 2-inch band long enough to go around your child's head. Staple in place. Attach bunny ears to band.
Easter parade bonnet
Materials:
paper plate
construction paper
crayons or markers
glue
yarn
Children can decorate the paper plate any way they wish. Glue on pieces of pastel paper, color flowers on plate, use your imagination. Tie yard to each side of plate so it can be tied under child's chin.
Egg carton Mini-Easter Baskets:
Materials:
use individual egg buckets (from egg carton)
ribbon for handle
put in Easter grass, jelly beans, etc.
We've always done an Easter tree using budding branches from outside, place them in a vase and decorate with homemade or store bought decorations.
Eggshell Mosaic
A great way to use up the remains of the Easter eggs. Children will love breaking up the eggshells.
Materials:
Colored eggshells
construction paper
crayon, pen or marker
glue
On a piece of paper have child draw a simple design (e.g. flower, balloon, kite, egg). Spread glue in design area. Sprinkle bits of broken eggshells onto glue. Allow to dry then hang and enjoy.
Eggshell collage
Use food coloring to color crushed
eggshells a few different colors. (You can use eggshells
from eggs you have used, there is no need to hard boil
these egg shells.) Let your child glue the eggshells to a
piece a paper after the dye has dried.
Pink or Yellow Shaving Cream Art
Add a few drops of red or yellow paint to shaving
cream. Have the children use this to paint
with. Not mixing the paint in will give it a
special look.
Egg People
Give the children a piece of white paper, and a pastel
egg shape. Have the children glue the egg shape onto the
paper, and then draw a body as if the egg was a head.
Cotton Bunnies
Let your child glue cotton balls to a piece of paper in
the form of a bunny.
Cotton Ball Eggs
Let your child glue different colored cotton balls onto a
piece of egg shaped paper.
Duckies
Trace a duck shape on a piece of paper and have children
glue on different colored feathers onto the duck.
Baby Lambs
Cut out Lamb out of white construction paper. Let your
child glue cotton balls onto the paper.
Sponge Print
You can find already shaped sponges at most art and craft
stores or you can make your own. Obtain sponges shaped as
lambs, bunnies or ducks. Have your child dip the sponges
into paint and press on a piece of paper to create an
easter scene.
Baby Chicks
Give each child one egg cup cut from an egg carton and
two yellow cotton balls. Have your child glue their
cotton balls in their egg cups, one on top of the other.
Then let them add a orange construction paper beak, and
black construction paper eyes.
Bunny Headbands
Measure your child's head, and cut a piece of
construction paper long enough to create a headband. Glue
the paper together so the headband fits snugly on your
child's head but is loose enough to take off easily. Cut
from gray paper two ears, and then pink paper for the
"inner" ear. Let your child help you glue the
pink ear to the gray ear. It's okay if it's a little off,
it's art! Then, either staple or glue the ears to the
headband. Have fun, and encourage your child to act like
a bunny. Have them hop around, and eat carrots for snack!
Clothespin Bunnies:
You need:
Old fashion style wooden clothes pin (The one piece
style)
Paint (white, pink or light brown tempera)
Googly eyes
Have the children paint the clothes pin. After the paint
is dry they hay add the eyes to the pin. The pin will be
upsidedown so that the bunny will have ears.
Easter Eggs
Have the children cut out oval shapes from various colors
of construction paper. They may decorate these with
paint, markers, glitter, stickers, or any other materials
that you wish to provide.
Ducks
Cut out duck shapes for the children and have them glue
feathers onto the duck.
Sun Catcher Easter Eggs
Supply each child with an egg shaped piece of contact
paper and many tissue paper squares of different colors.
Have the children place the squares on the contact paper.
then finished trim the egg and hang in a window.
Tie Died Easter Eggs
Supply each child with a white construction paper egg and
many piece of tissue paper that will bleed when wet. Have
the child place the tissue paper on the egg, then have
them paint the paper with water, just enough to get it
wet with no standing water. Then allow to dry. When dry
remove the paper.
Wonderfull Eggs<
Inflate a small balloon for each child. Have the child
glue tissue paper to the outside of the balloon. There
should be at least two complete layers with no gaps.
Allow to dry by hanging the balloons up by the tied knot.
When dry, cut a slit in the balloon and remove the
balloon, leaving a beatiful tissue paper egg. You may
fill the balloon with a special gift for mom and dad (be
sure it isn't too heavy) or use them for decoration.
Easy Basket
Supply each child with a styrofoam cup and markers and
stickers to decorate it with. Poke a pipe cleaner into
the sides for a handle, add grass and candy or stickers
inside the cup.
Egg Necklaces
Have the children cut out egg shapes from construction
paper. Then, have them use a hole punch to make a
hole, so they can thread them onto a piece of yarn.
Egg Rubbings
Cut egg shapes from paper doilys or sandpaper. Tape
these eggs to the table. Have the children place a
piece of thin white paper over the eggs and rub a crayon
over the egg.
Shaving Cream Art
Add a drop of food coloring to a baseball sized pile of
shaving cream. Mix this with a paint brush.
Have the children be very careful, and use smocks because
the food coloring will stain their clothing and
hands. Have the children paint the shaving cream on
a white piece of paper that is shaped like an egg.
Potato Prints (looks like easter egg prints)
Cut a large potato in half from the top to bottom, so
it's a really long oval. Supply the children with
the potato half, different colored paints, and
paper. Have the children dip the potatoes in the
paint and press them firmly onto the paper. If the
potatoes are not cut evenly the shape will not appear
clearly.
Egg Roll
Place a piece of paper in a deep pan with a hard boiled
egg and a little paint (two or threee different colors).
Have the children carefully roll their egg around. The
end product is a decorated egg and a cool picture.
Fingerprint Easter Eggs
Have the children draw a spring scene, or cut pictures
out of a magazine to create a collage. Then have the
children "hide" thier easter eggs in the
picture by placing their fingerprints in different places
on the picture. Use a child safe non-toxic ink pad for
the children to make their fingerprints with.
Cookie Cutter Painting
Put a small amount of tempera paint in a large shallow
container. (A pie tin works well) Show your child how to
dip the cookie cutter in the paint and press onto a piece
of paper to create a print. You make make Easter pictures
or greeting cards by using Easter cookie cutters, and
colored paper.
Sticker Art
For a very simple art project, supply the children with a
piece of paper and stickers. For younger children this
provides an excellent fine motor activity.
Bunny Puppets
Supply each child with a paper lunch bag, pink paper,
googly eyes, a black marker and pipe cleaners. Have the
children cut the pink paper into ear shapes and glue onto
the bottom of the bag. Use the pipe cleaners for whiskers
and eyes for uhhh eyes and draw on the mouth and nose.
Torn Paper Eggs
Draw an egg shape on a piece of white paper. Have the
children tear small pieces of paper and glue them inside
the egg shape.
Egg Necklaces
Supply the children with egg shaped stencil. Have
the children cut out egg shapes from construction
paper. Then, have them use a hole punch to make a
hole, so they can thread them onto a piece of yarn.
Pastel Noodle Necklaces
Supply the children with pasta noodles that have been
dyed pastel colors and yarn. Have the children thread the
noodles onto the yarn to make a necklace.
Bunny Necklaces
Cut out bunny shapes from construction paper. Then,
have them use a hole punch to make a hole, so they can
thread them onto a piece of yarn.
Egg Spray Paint Art:
Obtain a few clean spray bottles. Add water and a little
bit of liquid or powdered tempera. Then, place a large
piece of egg shaped paper on an easel, and have the
children spray the colored water onto the egg shaped
paper.
Kool Aid Art
Sprinkle a little dry kool aid mix onto a piece of paper.
Have your child spray water from a spray bottle onto egg
shaped paper. For added adventure, you may choose to take
your children out into the rain with a piece of paper
that has kool-aid on it.
Egg Shaped Balloon Prints
In a pie tin, place 3 to 5 teaspoon sized portions of
different colored pastel tempera paint evenly spaced
about the area. Inflate a small balloon to a size which
will easily fit in the palm of your child's hand. Show
your child how to "dip" the balloon in the
paint and press firmly onto a piece of paper. Let your
child mix the colors, or use one color at a time. This is
messy, but the results are wonderful.
Playdoh Eggs
Supply the children with playdoh and have them make
Easter egg shapes. Or supply the children with Easter
themed cookie cutters.
