William was a tailor and probabley trained with his father Thomas.
On the night of the 1871 census William is not at home and in fact does not appear anywhere,I presume he had already left his wife and children as in the 1901 census he reappears with another wife Jean M. living at 42 Althorpe St.,Far Cotton,Northants.Occupation tailor.
William married Sarah Anne Spencer, daughter of John Spencer and Elizabeth Jane White, on 11 Jan 1869 in St Andrews, Hertford. (Sarah Anne Spencer was born in 1848 in Datchworth, Herts and was christened on 3 Feb 1850 in Datchworth, Herts.)
William next married Jane M Everett in Dec 1893 in Bicester, Oxon 3a 1343. (Jane M Everett was born in 1842 in Hethe, Oxon.)
