Varsity to train HR personnel

GOPENG: Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (Utar) will provide courses to train human resources personnel in various fields to meet the needs of the nation, said MCA secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Ting Chew Peh.

He said it would be a heavy responsibility for the MCA to ensure that Utar would be internationally known.

Speaking before the start of the ninth leg of the Utar torch run here yesterday, Dr Ting, who is Gopeng MP, said more students would be able to enrol with Utar as it would recognise the results of Chinese independent school students who sat for the Unified Certificate of Examination.

About 300 people, including MCA leaders and representatives from 16 Chinese associations here, participated in the run to raise funds and create awareness on Utar.

The run was also held in Batu Gajah, Tronoh and Pusing yesterday. It will end in Kampar today before the Prime Minister performs the ground-breaking ceremony at the Utar site in Bandar Baru Kampar.
